[the coming darkness];
[It doesn't matter if your communicators are on, off, or if you were in the middle of talking to someone. They suddenly start flickering on and off, static crackling across the screen and through the speakers. It's a high, piercing noise at first, but then it eases into a low, unsettling hum. There's no face to accompany the cool, menacing voice that comes. Just blackness.]
Pitiful fools. Cling to the light and your precious king all you wish.
It will not save you. It cannot. You are doomed to die in the all-consuming darkness. I... however, may be able to spare you from that fate if I find you useful. I have the power to control the darkness and I can see to it your wishes and desires are fulfilled.
Abandon that king of yours and we shall see if you are worthy. Even if you do not, you will see in time: he means to keep you trapped here forever, despite what he says. I offer an escape.
