In terms of what's been going on, the truth is, our mission has been to contain the threat of the Darkness and the Heartless which took our world. No small task, unfortunately. We haven't made much progress, at least not as much as I'm personally comfortable with. It does not help that the Darkness has allies here as well.
Most recently there was another Heartless invasion, which, unfortunately, only emphasised that fact.
