A new source of owl chow

[The bright blue sky interrupted only by the flutter of wings as an owl swoops out of the clouds and lands lightly on his master’s arm. The animal is treated to a friendly pet under its beak which must have been appreciated as the creature leaned closer to the hand giving it this treatment. ]


Trabant, Sie einen angenehmen Flug?


[Trabant, for that must be the bird’s name, inclines his head to one side before carefully checking the offered hand for food. ]


Sie jetzt Hunger? Es tut mir leid. Ich habe nichts im Moment.


[It is then that Chloé looks down at the ground to notice that Network Device has turned itself on. Without missing a beat he slips from German to English, since more people tend to use that language here.]


Oh, did this come on by itself?


[Retrieving the device from the ground where it was laying. ]

Since it did, I might as well ask. Are their any pet shops around that would sell food suitable for an owl? Trabant usually hunts for himself, but with so many talking mice around it might be better if he had a more reliable source of food. It wouldn’t do to make a snack out of one of the other refugees here.

[A relative newcomer, the little girl is exploring while Rosa and Cecil are busy. She is curious about everything, and the owl as well as the person gets her attention easily enough.]

I am afraid I don’t know any magic. That was German, a language from the world I come from.

[Rydia smiles at the owl. She almost reaches out to pet him, then pauses, not sure if he'll let her.]

[Sidestepping down the leather hawk glove he had landed on Trabant bobbed his head at the girl. ]

He wouldn’t mind if I had a treat of some kind to offer him.

[Chloé notices Rydia’s tentative action. It was only natural for a small girl to want to pet Trabant wasn’t it? Sigh. He really didn’t understand children very well… but… ]

If you compliment him, I’m sure Trabant will let you pet him.

[She perks up and smiles at that, reaching her hand out slowly.]

Hello, Trabant. I'm Rydia. It's nice to meet you. You're a very pretty owl.

[As predicted Trabant approves! His is a very fine looking owl after all its nice that some one has taken the time to notice.
He leans a little closer to the girl allowing her to pet him if she wants to. ]

[Rydia grins and begins to pet him gently. She's been taught to be gentle with animals. There's a glance up to his human companion while she goes this.]

What kind of treats does he like?

I don’t know that anyone here makes any kind of owl food. That was partially what I was trying to get an answer for.

Do you know of any place that might sell owl treats… that aren’t rodents.

He is the only one I have seen here. Strange isn’t it? That only he and I would have been able to escape the darkness.

Trabant and I have been settling in… as well as can be expected. I accepted a position at Disney Castle to help them with their gardens and now that Ciel and I have settled on a name that flower shop I keep mentioning should open soon.

What of yourself? Did… I see some mention of you blowing up a home recently?
