Time to leave this town

[ Action ]

[ This world had really become too dangerous lately. The Sailor Senshi were constantly showing up here and more recently two of the other shitennou had arrived. Who knew what they were really trying to do.

So, Nephrite found himself here, at the gummi ship station. One of these would be able to take him to one of the other worlds. That is what the moogle had said and those creatures had never bothered to lie, foolish things that they were. He walked down the gangplank between ships before settling on one that looked decent enough to get some where. There was just one thing he had to do first… ]

[ Private - Naru ]

I just wanted you to know I will be leaving Traverse Town today. Some people have arrived … and it is too dangerous for me to stay in one place. I don’t know where I am going, don’t bother looking for me. I don’t think this group has any interest in hurting you.

I had thought I might be able to take you out for that chocolate parfait you keep mentioning but it looks like I won’t be able to after all.

Sorry… for lying to you again…

Nephrite?

[She takes pause at what she's hearing. He couldn't really be leaving again? Without letting her know where he was going or anything? .. But... but she'd just found him again! After--]

You can't mean it. Nephrite, you don't have to go alone!

[She was saying anything she could think of to stall him. As far as Naru knew there was only one way to leave the worlds]

I'll come with you.

[Without giving him much time to respond, Naru was hurrying off to find the gummi docks. She couldn't lose him again!]

No, you can’t come with me. Its too dangerous for you.

[ Er… protest fails though as she just barges into the gummi ship dock? He really should have left first and THEN told her about it. ]

Naru… [He is happy to see her but… ] You shouldn’t have come here.

[La la la- I'm not listening to you. Her eyes light up when she catches sight of him.]

Oh good! You're still here... I.. I didn't miss you.

[Rushes over to his side]

Don't be ridiculous.. of course I came. It's just as dangerous for you to go wandering off to worlds you've never been to before. I won't let you go by yourself.

[Frown. ]

Its not as dangerous for me as it is for you…

[He has powers, you don’t. Never mind there are people actually trying to find him. ]

You should go to that school everyone was talking about. You would be safe there.

[It's kind of hard to argue with him but she's darn well going to try]

Well.. I might not have any powers like you do but there are other worlds that are supposed to be fairly safe and devoid of heartless. We could go to one of those!

[The school-- She had considered attending there.. if for nothing else than some normalcy but this was more important.]

[There are worlds like that… and it would be nice to not be alone. ]

Destiny Island is supposed to be safe.

[You should go there. ]

[You can't fool her, that's where the school is..]

Yeah it is. Maybe we should go there.

[It's we or nothing]

[So stubborn. ]

You aren’t going to give up? I could force you to stay behind you know…

[I wonder where she picked that up from]

Nope! [She can't help but smile as she admits this but it fades a little. He really could slip away at some point]

You shouldn't even kid about a thing like that- [Looks down] I already lost you... once before....

I'll do whatever it takes. I won't be a burden for you, I promise! [Balls a fist and looks up at him with all earnestly] Maybe I could even learn something useful at the school. [They teach magic there and about the worlds] I could tell you all about it and everything.

[ I have no idea.]

You wouldn’t be a burden…

[Naru stopped talking at that moment and looked shyly to the side]

Then.. it's settled then.

[Fine… you can come… ]

It might be safer if I could keep an eye on you…

[Standing aside so you can enter the gummi ship. ]

[It's finally starting to dawn on her just how fast this all is happening. She didn't even get a chance to tell anyone goodbye. ~~Not to mention the running off with a strange man .. thing~~. Somehow though-- she just had a feeling things would work out for the best.]

It just might be!

[Climbs into the gummi ship. She'll make an announcement later that she's left... just not tell them where she went]

[Zoisite, for all the direct notice he gives Nephrite, could have just happened to be here. He lets the breeze play with the hem of his cloak.]

You are planning to leave here?

[It does not sit well with him, the thought of the shitennou separating; even under Beryl, they had been able to remain together in his own world.]

[You Sir, are not someone he is happy to see. Why is it always a Zoisite that plagues him? Irony. ]

That is none of your business.

[Well, some things do stay constant between worlds, apparently.]

Nephrite... [He isn't good at this. He wants to march Nephrite to a piano, sit him down, and make him remember. He may get frustrated enough to do exactly that, eventually. But for right now, he tries this way instead.]

Do you even understand what you are running from? We are not your enemies. We are comrades, at the very least. [And so much more: brothers.]

My comrades from my world conspired to have me killed… Is it any wonder why I choose not to trust you people now?

[He had just suffered a very traumatic event before arriving here so Nephrite is even more on guard than he would have been on Earth… especially around Zoisite. You maybe different but your name is the same.]

[No. He can't blame Nephrite for that. He comes closer now, and lowers his voice.]

Will running from this place tell you which are our true intentions?

[It won't, of course, and he points it out bluntly.]

I don’t care about your true intentions. They have nothing to do with me any more!

[The closer Zoisite gets the more on guard Nephrite becomes. He might notice the suddenly clenched fist.]

Just go about your business and leave me to mine!

No. The bond between us four was the only true thing in the Dark Kingdom. They have everything to do with you.

[There's a reason he never escaped, once he had his true memories, and that reason was the other shitennou.]

Nephrite, even if you are from a different world, you are one of the shitennou. We should stand together. What is it you are so afraid of as to run away?

[At least he claims its not but if he were more honest with himself that might have something to do with it. ]

We have a chance here to be more than that. I don’t want to have anything to do with the Dark Kingdom or the past anymore!

[He's beginning to get frustrated again. The words burst forth too quickly.]

The shitennou are not the Dark Kingdom! That is nothing. If you remembered your true self and our past, you would know what we are!

[Some one else is also beginning to loose his temper. ]

I keep telling you I don’t care about the past! Or the shitennou!

Now leave me alone! This conversation is pointless!

[Mixed with the frustration is so much pity, at watching Nephrite still struggling with the darkness, bound to the Dark Kingdom by refusing to acknowledge other possibilities, for all that he says he doesn't care for the past.]

If you truly do not care about our past, then you must give up the grudge that makes you run from us. That is also from a past, the past of the Dark Kingdom.

[Nephrite is a work in progress. His views about the worlds and people, gradually shifting as the new concepts he discovered before his death slowly begin to make more sense. But, he was in no way ready to face everything. ]

Stop preaching… I don’t care for anything you have to say.
Just go back to Kunzite.

[What? That relationship is the same isn’t it? ^,^ ]

Maybe he will care to listen to you.

[Nephrite though is past ready to leave. This gummi ship, heading for places unknown. He will just be stepping inside there now. ]

[Guess who's stepping right on the ship as well? He gives Nephrite an almost defiant look as he does.]

I have no intention of abandoning one of the shitennou.

[Some one is asking for it… Nephrite raises a hand palm side facing Zoisite’s face.]

I didn’t say you could come!

We have not finished speaking. [He says it mildly, but by now Nephrite surely realizes how unlikely it is he'll turn around and leave.]

We haven’t said anything that wasn’t said before! Surely even you can see how pointless continuing this conversation is!?

[Last chance. He’s really doing remarkably well with that temper of his. ]

I do not consider you pointless.

[It may seem like deflection, but it's the issue to him. To walk away is to walk away from Nephrite.]

[A strange idea that almost, almost prevents Nephrite from attacking. A blast of energy shoots out from his palm. Strong enough to do some damage if it hits and hopefully enough to drive this pest from the gummi ship.]

[Instead, the force makes him stagger backwards. He cradles his hurt arm where it hits, but struggles for his footing. He does not retaliate.]

[No pity, even as he grabs his injured arm. Zoisite just gets an angry shove forcing him out of the ship. ]

I should just kill you now… [He doesn’t though! That’s something, isn’t it? ]

Don’t bother me again.

[Nephrite will be closing that door now so Zoisite can’t fling himself back inside before the ship leaves. ]

[There'll be plenty of 'bothering' Nephrite again later.

But for now, Zoisite will have to wait. He watches the ship go with a sense of helplessness; but he reminds himself that he can find Nephrite at any time. He will visit Nephrite in whatever other world he plans to visit, just as he once hounded Chiba Mamoru from Tokyo to London.

But for now, he is in an all-too-familiar situation in this all-too-strange new mix of worlds: injured, at the hands of a man who should be his brother, for his loyalty to the man who should be their master. When he had spoken with Kunzite, he had begun to hope for a change.]

[He's not leaving that easily. At least, not without Kunzite showing up and saying something to him. He does keep his distance though.

Nephrite was stubborn in his world, so he's assuming the same stubborn anger is in this one. No point in agitating him further than he needs to.]

Where will you go?

[This silence… It means he either doesn’t know or has no intention of telling you. Likely a combination of both. ]

It doesn’t matter.

[The silence gets a look. He's been through all of this type of stuff with Nephrite in his own world. It's a little more irritating when one is not, say, totally focused on killing Mamoru.]

You know we can find you. [It comes mildly enough. He's not threatening Nephrite, well... not meaning to. He's just stating a fact.]

[Right now, knowing that he can be tracked down where ever he goes is not a comforting thought. ]

If you do I will defend myself! I alright told Zoisite I don’t want anything to do with you!

I don't plan to attack you, Nephrite. If I did, would we be having this pleasant conversation?

[He smirks.] How can you know that when you know nothing about us?

I don’t see anything pleasant about it…
[Sulk. Its not unlike other ‘pleasant’ conversations had in the Dark Kingdom. This could just be veiled politeness. ]

I see nothing worthwhile in getting to know either one of you.

You might be from another world, but you still sound as you did in my own. He changed his mind. You will, as well.

Don’t mistake me for that other person. I have no reason to change my mind.

[Not… yet, but he will. He is just being stubborn! ]

You will find reason, Nephrite.

[Kunzite excels at being stubborn.]
