Is it customary here to give out thanks instead of payment?

[He didn't spend the entire morning lugging boxes (the non-Jedi way!) up the street to be given a thanks and a rather useless Santa hat. No, he didn't believe that was what the holidays were about, despite what the old shop keeper told him.]

The locals aren’t firing on all thrusters lately. Does this particular holiday have that effect on people?

That's a shame. You'd think they would have paid you. But... this holiday from what I understand, however, is about giving and being generous without expecting anything in return. You helped someone who needed it. That's reward enough, isn't it?
