[It's been three days. No sign of his sister, no answer from her communicator, no ability to even get a message to her communicator.

For someone so ready to point out the more painful truths to others, taking Schala's loss again has not been a simple matter. He would pronounce anyone else vanishing back into the darkness weak or a fool; she was neither, obviously. So this is Different.

And it's also why he's in the shadows of Port Royal, watching the Heartless and the inhabitants of this world. The communicator has come on at some point and that's about all that the camera is showing. And it's a fairly still screen because the person who keeps that particular communicator isn't really moving much.

Stepping back from the darkness hadn't kept Schala safe. So obviously, it's time to start studying these creatures more. Because if he can understand their darkness, obviously he'll be able to find her again and keep her safe this time.]

Then maybe you would like to know something a little more useful... like how to control a doorway into Darkness?

I teach you how to control the heartless and how to use the power of the darkness to open a doorway that will let you search for that person and it return... I get a little contract, a formality really, that means your soul belongs to me.

[Dryly.] I get to use the powers of this darkness solely to look for Schala and you get my soul in return?

Not solely... who ever said anything about solely? What you do with those powers is up to you. It just can be a touch dangerous to learn how to control the heartless without a guide and doorways into darkness are not for amateurs.

I will have the terms of both ends of this spelled out clearly before I decide.

I show you how to control the heartless without giving in to them, you use the power to find your Schala person by opening a doorway into the darkness or what ever else you want to do with it and in return you just do a few tasks for me until well, eventually you will die and then your soul will belong to me. I mean its coming here anyway so that's not such a big deal, right?

What manner of tasks?

Nothing major, you know,maybe a little recovery mission here... a little havoc there, does it really matter if you can get your sister back?

It does, actually. My mother giving over her soul to a demon was how she and I were separated in the first place. I am not eager to become that woman.

Now see, demons are tricky. You should never make a deal with a demon. They just don't respect the art of the deal like a God does. Making a deal with me won't separate you from anyone... in fact... it might even bring you back together.

[To his mind, there's little difference between a god and a demon.] My mother was not the same person after she lost her soul.

[Which is not to say he's not listening to Hades and considering this.]

Well, you wouldn't change at all. You would just gain the power of the heartless and heh, that's something you could really use right now, isn't it?

[Really, the only drawback to this sounds like he'll have to do things for Hades. To have the power to find Schala in this place and to keep her safe here...

It's not like he hasn't delved into demonic things before. It only took him twenty years last time, and then it was an accident caused by Frog and the others that reunited them for a brief period.

0f course, then his magic was drained and he's still having to relearn it because that creature took the very power from him...]

And once I find her, I keep these powers?

It wouldn't be a very good deal if the powers just faded away once you had found your sister, now would it? NAH, you get to keep those powers for as long as you live, and believe me... having heartless at your beck and call is endlessly useful!

[He thinks about this for a moment.]
