[Unlike the usual on Zuko's broadcasts, today he isn't being bothered by his Charmander. Instead, Yujin is napping on his lap like an oversized cat, while the scarred teenager is sitting cross-legged, expression serious.]

I've been thinking... And I have a few questions. Why do some people survive having their worlds destroyed, but not others? How come some people can show up later, even if their worlds have been gone for a while? And why do some people disappear back into the darkness, even if they make it here?

[He sighs.]

The more I think about it, the less I can figure it out.

Hey... Have you seen my sister around lately? I can't reach her on the communicators, and I have no idea where she is. I know you don't like me -- and, well, I don't like you. But you're the only person I know from these other worlds who knows her, so...

All I want to know is if she's still here.

I think Azula is gone. I haven't been able to reach her on the communicators for a while now, just like Katara.

I... guess that's one less problem we have to deal with. [Even as he says it, though, he doesn't fully mean it. The worlds would be safer without her, but... She's his sister. He can't hate her the way he hates his father.]

By the way, Aang... Can we talk? There's something I need to tell you.

I think it's just random. I've heard people talk about strong hearts, and things like that, but there are people I know stronger than me who aren't here, who have been left behind. It doesn't make sense, and it's not right, but that's...just the way it is.

[Ami, perhaps unhelpfully, approaches it scientifically. As much as possible, at least.]

If the Heartless, or whoever controls them, can move through time, and if means of saving these few of us also involve this, it becomes easy to account for the timeline discrepancies.

However, the ones who disappear once they're here...

[Zuko did notice Katara didn't remember things she should, and Azula... Well, Azula was different. But he'd never thought of it in those terms. Now he's just more confused as he struggles with that concept.]

You really think it's possible they moved through time?

I think so. I can't be absolutely certain, but the hypothesis would account for the strange details.

Others have mentioned a time discrepancy or something like that, with people showing up from different timelines.

It seems random, when people escape the Darkness.

I kinda wonder if there's intelligence behind the Darkness, and if it's targeting those who seem to be a threat to it.

Maybe, but Heartless don't seem all that smart to me. Unless something was directing them...

That Hades guy and the Huns can direct them. There could be others with those abilities. Somehow, I don't think they're really in charge.

I have wondered the same thing. Darkness seems to defy not only space, but time as well. That doesn't make it any less confusing, but... it's the only answer I have.

But if people can be taken away on whim just as we are brought here, we should make good use of the time we have.

A lot in these other worlds is confusing, that's for sure.

Yeah. That way, even if we disappear, we can make our time here count for something. Maybe if we work hard enough, it will help other people restore their worlds in future.

Exactly. There's no point in not trying. Even the smallest action creates a ripple effect. It could end up helping more than we know.

Sounds like a lot of useless stress for nothing. Just hearing you ask all those questions gives me a headache.

If the answers will bring us any closer to restoring our homes, it's not useless.

I don't think anyone here knows the answers in the first place. If they did, we wouldn't be in this mess.

You shouldn't think too hard. I doubt you'll ever really find an honest answer.

It'll mean less hassle for us. You wouldn't believe the lies she tried to spread about us while she was here, and who knows what else she was plotting.

Those are questions I don't understand myself. I don't like to think of the answer because when you think about it, it could mean more than just dissappearing into the darkness.

Isn't that more reason to think of the answer? Maybe it's scary to think about, but pretending it won't happen to us won't change that it could.
