Okay, I'm getting a bit tired of the hotheads who keep trying to attack me. They keep calling me things like 'Hun scum' or accuse me of being a spy!

[ He rolls his eyes and sighs]

Really, if I was a spy I'd be a way more subtle about it. I can't help it if the culture most similar to mine happens to be the enemies of my employers!

Man, it would really suck for an actual Mongol from my world to end up here.

At least the horses are cool, though Lei Lei is kinda prissy.

[There's a protesting neigh.]

Yeah, you heard me.

[ He looks a little amused.He was clearly addressing the horse. ]

It isn't an unusual question and I have no qualms relating it.

[Though it certainly was significant and emotional for him]

In another life, I was known by an entirely different name. [Doesn't mention the name as it's been completely thrown away] I was a member of the brahman caste in India, one of the highest that had the privelage of serving the Gods. I took my position for granted. I witnessed other members of the caste abusing this power they had over others.. and as much as I despised it and tried to rebel against it..

I became just like them.

[Agni paused to collect his thoughts]

I committed a number of atrocities, I hurt others.. without regard for their own well being. I-- I was a deplorable person. It was on the day I was supposed to be executed that I met my master...

[That was when he finally looked up, reverently so]

He stood out from all the others, as if surrounded by a divine aura and he demanded they stop the proceedings. Having heard of my martial arts abilities he asked me to throw away my past and become his servant. I-- I couldn't say no.

My master-- has such a capacity for mercy and forgiveness..

He gave me a new name and essentially a new life. I can never fully repay him for the debt I owe him. I would do anything for him.

[He hopes the story of his past will not be offputting for Joluk, but it is a tale that must be told. Hiding his past would not change the fact that it had occurred. He also had refrained from implicating how his own father had been one of those deviant nobles... not wanting to shift the blame. His past was his own doing and no one else's.]

Uh...wow.

[ He wasn't expecting all that. He's actually silent for a little while. Even if he did horrible things in the past, he seems okay now. It's not Joluk's place to judge him for it.]

Well, plenty of us have done things we aren't proud of.

Hey, you mentioned India! I've heard of that place. It's far south of where I'm from.

[ He mentions the part of Central Asia that he comes from. It is a name used during the Victorian Period.]

I wonder if we could be from the same world.

I wonder that as well! If so.. you would be the first person I met from that world that I didn't already know prior to coming here.

Yeah, same here...probably. I might have met people from different time periods where all the country names are different.

Though, I doubt any of the folks with magic come from the same world.

It's hard to say really.

Magic is a most curious development. I would not have thought it possible until I arrived here. Though the Gods themselves are able to wield fantaswtic powers.
