[Technology is not one of Rei's fortes and it shows when the feed activates, flipped upside down. Nevertheless, she looks alarmed and not happy in the slightest. For the moment, she's tucked away in a temporary safe place. Her first instinct is to call for the girls.]

Hello? This is Rei Hino-- I just arrived here. This strange creature just gave me this device and--

[Loud crashing ensues in the background and the feed shakes for a moment, then steadies, reminding her to be quick about her transmission. No luxury to ask if anyone has seen her friends. She looks back into the feed, wearing an expression that is both determined and fearless. She may be without her ability to transform into Sailor Mars at the moment, but she sure as heck isn't helpless.]

I'm not sure how long I can hold out here. If anyone is nearby, I'm willing to help you fight off these evil creatures. Get in touch with me immediately.

Seeing Rei again opens all the wounds of losing her friends. But now isn't the time. Ami, de-transformed like Rei, answers almost immediately.]

Rei-chan! I can explain the situation but right now, be ready to defend yourself!

[She switches to a filter quickly.]

Your powers may not work. Mine aren't working properly, either. However... [How to explain.] I seem to be exhibiting strange abilities besides them.

[Rei is quick to notice that Ami is not transformed either, nodding once. She's relieved to see her friend, but they have to get through this mess, first.]

I understand, Ami. Be careful!

That's unfortunate. I tried to transform when I got here, but... [She shakes her head, indicating it didn't work. That second part catches her attention, though.] What kind of strange abilities?

If I try to transform, it's into the shape of a wolf.

[With. Blue fur.

Ami sneaks a glance at the video, half expecting Rei to react very strongly.]

A wolf? [Rei is just... stunned. Between werewolf folklore and imagining Ami turning into that, her brain is breaking somewhere.] How--? [No time to ask. There are a lot of things she wants to ask, but they have to survive this first.]

Nevermind. Do you have a plan? [A pause, then she adds:] I don't want you to risk trouble finding me in this chaos.

[She doesn't like it, but shaky relations with the senshi as a whole have prepared her for it.]

Just this once, we may have to fight on our own. Ally with the people fighting the heartless where you are now.

[They can meet after this... It'll be alright.]

[A single nod.]

Someone is already headed this way. I'm going to find something to fight with when they get here. [She hesitates, then decides to ask quickly; she just spoke to Naru, so maybe...] Ami, are any of the others there with you?

Setsuna-san was, for awhile.

[She can't help the chill of worry running through her. Just one other? What did that mean for the others? Maybe not the best thing to think about in the middle of battle.]

[She actually almost smiles.] The fur seems to still be blue.

Blue fur? [She makes a short noise that sounds like a laugh.] I'd like to see that. [Sailor Mercury, Werewolf Soldier of Water! Priceless.]

It's somewhat embarrassing. And in that form, I can't fight with my powers.

[Which means relying on tooth and claw - not something the gentle soldier prefers. At all.]

It's better than being unable to defend yourself at all, isn't it?

But I hope we'll get them back soon. I don't like being without them. [She frowns.] I can't even sense things anymore, Ami...

I don't know... [For once, Ami sounds quite at a loss. This is beyond most of what they've experienced before.]

We've regained our powers before, but, those situations were very different.

[Rei studies Ami for a moment, brows furrowed.]

Is losing one's abilities a common occurrence here?

No. They've never been affected before while I've been here.

What does that mean? If something is so powerful that it can stop us from transforming... [Frown.] How long have you been here? Has this invasion been on-going?

I've been here several months. There are always Heartless, but this is different.

Heartless? ...Are those the shadow creatures?

Yes. They take different forms in the different worlds here, but always those shadows. They remind me of lemures.
