eighth flame ☀ video / action on destiny islands

[The communicator seems to have been dropped on the ground, skewing the camera at an awkward angle. Zuko is facing down a group of Heartless, his expression twisted into a mixture of rage and anguish. If he had his Firebending, something would be on fire by now.]

Aang and Sokka are gone because of you!

[He might not have his Firebending, but he does have other powers. He lifts a Soldier Heartless into the air, and crushes it with its own metal armour. Then he uses it as a projectile and hurls it into the group of other Heartless, with such force they all disappear in puffs of black smoke. Another group of Heartless appear instantly to replace them; these ones are more powerful Defenders and Wyverns. Zuko is undaunted, despite being sorely outnumbered and having powers he barely knows how to use.]

How many more people are you going to take?! How many more worlds?!

[He draws his dual blades, and charges into the fray. His emotions are completely out of control -- he won't stop killing Heartless until they're all gone, or they've killed him.]

[Oh dear...someone has to help him...! She doesn't like leaving Mercury alone, but...

Within the hour she's back on the islands scouring around for the prince.]

Zuko!? Zuko!!

[An hour is a long time in combat terms, and Zuko's gained a few injuries, but he's still standing and fighting close to where she is. Maybe the Heartless are drawn to his anger, maybe they're just targeting this world particularly right now, but they seem to be swarming in no matter how many he cuts down.]

[Setsuna manages, somehow, to get close to him. There are so many...more than usual even for the invasion. But the anger he's emanating is a bad sign.

She manages to cut a swath through them, getting next to the Fire Lord.]

Zuko. Calm down. Hang on for a moment.

Don't tell me to calm down! I'll be calm when every last Heartless is gone!

[He impales a Wyvern as it swoops down towards them, then kicks its disintergrating body off his sword. He's running on pure anger, and no amount of telling him to be calm will make him stop.]

[Oz had only returned home to grab a few things from his slightly trashed room, before he started making his way back. Spotting a group of Heartless, Oz took a rather deep breath in before making a rather loud scream, causing a wave of sound to go with force towards them, sending them flying backwards.

Looking over, Oz spotted Zuko, fighting with Heartless of his own.]

Do you need any help?

What--? [Zuko was startled by the loud scream enough that he looked around, and for that brief second he was caught off guard a Wyvern attacked him from behind, its sharp claws grazing into his back. He winced and sliced at the Heartless with his sword, but it dodged and flew back out of reach. Finally he looked at Oz.]

I can handle this!

[Oz had unleashed another sound attack using his voice as loud as he could. He had started to get use to doing that and it proved to be useful. With his sword in his hand, he used it to swipe as two Heartless that were still close by.]

Not one person can deal with this many Heartless.

[Zuko winced at the sound attack; even if it wasn't intended to be used against him, it was deafeningly loud and left his ears ringing. He dodged a fire attack from one of the Defenders, then looked back at Oz.]

If you want to help me, stop doing that!

Zuko, calm down.

[He recognizes the location, so he heads there as quickly as he can. It gives him something else to focus on, so that he doesn't have to worry. It's selfish of him, he knows it, but he doesn't want to see him get hurt anyway. He skids to a stop, shooting out webs to trap several of them at once.]

My friends are gone and you're telling me to be calm?!

[Zuko disregards Tidus even when he arrives, continuing to battle through the onslaught of Heartess.]

You don't know that for sure, okay? Besides, if you die now it will all have been for nothing.

[He didn't blame him any, and maybe that was why he went quiet to attack the Heartless, using the webs he created to swing them into the ground.]

You think I don't know how to recognise when a person is gone?! The same thing happened to Katara and my sister!

[He uses his powers to stop a metal-armoured Defender in its tracks, but he still doesn't have enough control of his new ability to be able to lift this one. His blades glance uselessly off its shield and he has to dodge backwards to avoid the counterattack.]

[Yet it's obvious he's gotten a few injuries. None are too serious, but most of them could have been avoided if he'd reined in his emotions.]

Fight carefully and with a clear head. You'll be able to see your foe's weaknesses much easier that way.

[As far as he's concerned, he's doing fine. A Wyvern flies down and he ducks, slicing off one of its wings as it passes over. It crashes to the ground, unable to get back up. He shows no mercy at all as he runs it through with his blades.]

Sir Aang is gone? [This is the first that Agni has heard about it, and the shock was clearly written on his features] Sokka too! [His bottom lip trembled but he swiftly bit into it. The three of them had made plans to visit Hades to learn more about the heartless but now... he was the only one left out of the trio.]

[He knew what the pain of losing someone most dear to you was like.. and therefore he also knew that he couldn't let the news cloud his thoughts. Zuko was the one that needed the most support now. The one that was left behind to keep fighting]

Sir Zuko please, you must try to find inner peace with the situation. If you're unable to find your center the darkness within you can spread!

We will get them back. Your friends and my Master... this isn't the end for them, nor for us! You must compose yourself!

INNER PEACE WON'T BRING ANYONE BACK! [Agni's advice sounds so much like something his uncle would say, it almost makes him feel a twinge of guilt that he's letting himself fly out of control like this. But his anger and hurt wins out, and he continues to fight as ferociously as before.]

You don't know what it's like! Every time I'm happy, I lose everything! I hate it! I hate the Heartless!

[Agni didn't take Zuko's retort personally. The pain was written on the others face and in his words. It reminded him how he used to be. All the anger, the hatred, the loathing he'd felt in that other lifetime. How the corruption that had surrounded him, infuriated him had also corrupted him. If there was anything he could do to save Zuko from following that path, he would gladly do it]

I may not know what your life has been like up to this point, or precisely what the future holds but I do understand negative emotions and how they can tear a man asunder. [In his case, Agni had almost been executed for his crimes. For losing himself and inflicting pain on others...] I also know that your friends wouldn't want you to destroy yourself!

[Sir Aang, and Sokka.. they were so upbeat and filled with a radiance of their own. If they had returned to their world it must surely be to do what they could to rescue it, not to be captured or worse. He had to believe in them.]

You must be strong, for them!

[Mai was doing her share of slaughtering not too far away from Zuko. Her knives somewhat effective but it was still not enough. She had a bad feeling about the whole 'no bending' thing Zuko was going through and the sky had certainly become rather ominous for it(not that she knew she was doing it). She heard his yells, glancing to look over at him.]

Zuko, calm down!

[And a heartless took advantage of her distracted moment and jumped. She stepped out of the way and ran towards Zuko instead.]

You can't lose your head now, we're surrounded!

I'm calm! I know what I'm doing!

[He backed up towards Mai to make sure they were back-to-back and neither could be attacked from behind. He'd lost too many people to the darkness; he couldn't lose her too.]

We should retreat. If a second wave joins this one, we'll be outnumbered.

[He also had to talk things out and stop the slaughter. That wouldn't help.]

[Zuko might notice that some Heartless are being herded back behind a wall of vines. His new powers don't exactly give him the power to blow things up, which was much cooler, but they work, for now.]

Meega nala kweesta! [The little alien seems at home amongst the chaos, but he's keeping a close eye on Zuko, too. And, just this once, he won't call him Grumpy.

Yet.]

[The vines take the pressure off Zuko as some of the Heartless are held back. His usual irritable attitude he'd have at seeing Stitch is completely absent -- instead he shoots a brief look at the alien, which might be a look of gratitude, or maybe just acknowledgement. Then he's straight back into the fray, on the attack against another set of Defenders.]

[Stitch is okay with letting it go on for a while, but there comes a point when there's just a small lull in the onslaught that he takes advantage of. He encases the two of them, and anyone else fighting, in a perimeter of brambles and thickets. The Heartless with find their way through, but it'll buy them some time.]

Zuko is okay? Stitch needs to catch some breaths.
