[There's a familiar girl on the feed poking away at buttons but it seems technology and her weren't exactly mixing. She was getting frustrated with it until she finally slammed the device on the table.]

How do you make this stupid thing private! I don't have time for this!

[She just gives up. To hell with this, she'll just insult who ever doesn't mind their business.]

Zuko, we need talk. Where are you, what have you been doing, and who is this girl you're apparently running around after? You better have some good excuse before I start tearing up your wardrobe since I can't catch things on fire like some jerk I know.

[And with that she cut off the feed. Mai was confused and conflicted, dammit! This was all falling apart so fast, what had just happened!.]

Right. [She's not. In a good place right now.]

You're asking me where I've been? What about you? You haven't tried contacting me in days.

[Zuko feels guilty and can't keep the defensiveness out of his voice. He likes Rei, even if she doesn't like him, but... Ugh, this is so confusing.]

I bet you ran off with that guy from before, and now you're trying to turn this on me! I knew you liked him!

I wasn't aware I had to keep calling you like some clinging child to make sure you came home. You're not denying you were chasing a girl. Do you know how humiliating it is when they tell you you're boyfriend is with another girl?

[And she's pacing now, twirling knives to make her feel a little more calm but it wasn't working.]

I haven't been running after anyone like you have. I went out with a friend once. What have you been doing.

A friend. Right. [It was totally Leon, wasn't it.]

I met someone to apologise for something. I don't know who told you or what they told you, but nothing happened, so stop overreacting and jumping to conclusions!

Overreact? Coming from you? I can't believe this.

Stop acting so suspicious and maybe I wouldn't overreact.

I'm the one acting suspicious? I just told you what happened, didn't I? You won't even admit it was that Leon guy you met up with. Which, by the way, is really weird -- do you even know how old he is? Not that you would care, considering you like him that much!

Excuse me? [She stopped twirling her dagger.] It was Leon but I didn't stay out all night like you did. He's my friend. At least he seems to show a little more concern.

[Zuko laughs, but it's a bitter and harsh sound with no real humour.] You both think I'm an idiot, don't you? How naive do you think I am? I know you like him and that he likes you, and you won't even deny it!

[He's pacing back and forth now, and it's taking all his self control not to burn the communicator between his hands. He's been jealous about Mai's relationship to Leon for a while now, and now all this has only made his paranoia worse. His own confusion about his feelings isn't helping matters.]

Sorry I'm not older like he is, or taller, or has his stupid haircut or his stupid face, and sorry for not dressing all gloomy and black like he does! You like that, right? And I'm sorry for having a scar which is uglier than his, since you obviously find that kind of thing so attractive!

[And that is actually a slap to the face. Her hands move to her side and she's shaking. Of course, her mother raised her 'right'. She wasn't about to lose her temper like this or cry.]

You and your stupid jealousy, Zuko. Are you implying that I'm setting you up? What do you think we were up to? You know what, don't answer. I can imagine and I don't want to hear it. I can't believe you would resort back to this after how many times I told you that you needed to control your anger. You're being a complete idiot.

So now this is all my fault?! This isn't about me! This is about what you did, and you still won't give me a straight answer! Unless you tell me exactly what you were doing with that creep, I have every right to be angry!

We didn't do anything! He asked if I wanted to go out, he wanted a break from work and I said yes! We didn't go anywhere, though. [Because he told her what you were doing and she didn't feel well.] I told him to take me back home. We just walked around until we got tired. I didn't go looking for him like you did looking for her.

Were you even listening?! I said I was looking for her because I wanted to apologise! If you don't believe me, ask her yourself, or ask Ami. She barely even knows me, unlike you and Leon!

That's it, I'm done with you. I can't take it anymore. You obviously haven't learned to trust me and I don't know what's going in your heat but I'm sick of it. I won't be home when you get here.

[Zuko's good eye widens momentarily in shock. Then his expression hardens.]

Fine. Go back to Leon, see if I care.

[The feed cuts.]

[It's not to be ironic, really-- he just doesn't want to invoke anymore wrath after all that.]

Mai... I'm sorry. [He feels horribly guilty and responsible; the least he can do is try to look out for her.] I know I'm probably the last person you want to talk to right now, but if there's anything I can do... Let me know.

[And considering she just broke up with her boyfriend, she's just going to hide her face a bit.]

What are you apologizing for, you're not the one acting like a complete idiot.

This was kind of my fault. I should apologize.

You're not the one accusing me of doing something with another man I'm obviously not doing.

It's done anyway. [She's grabbing her belongings in a bag.] I'm going to an inn.

Wait--... How are you going to get food? Do you have any source of income?

No, I don't work and I'll just- [She found one of Zuko's shirts. She tore it in half and threw the pieces over her shoulder before moving out the door communicator in hand.]

Don't worry. I'll think of something.

[He's not sure he sure he should even offer, but he does.] At least let me help you until you can get on your feet. ...You can even stay here if you want. Better than an inn.

[That makes her stop.] Zuko thinks there's something between us, Leon. Why-

[And all those confusing feelings forever. She just wants to go stab things.]

I don't know what I should do. I don't have a lot of friends here. You're really the only person I talk to.

Look, if he wants to hate me because he's being delusional, fine. But you shouldn't have to suffer for it.

[He sighs, ruffling his hair back.] If you'd rather not, that's fine too. I get it. You not having anyone else is all the more reason why I should be helping you, though. If you want to stay at an inn, I'll just pay for your food or give you some money to live off of for a while.

I'm not okay with you being on your own like that.

[He did have a point in regards to Zuko's delusions not being her problem. It was why she broke up with him in the first place. Leon was being very generous and her own confused emotions had her doubting this move but, something told her he was serious about giving her money, so the least she could do was spare him the inn costs.]

Are you sure you have space for me? I'll only stay there until I can get myself a job.

[Shruuug.] I can sleep on the couch. The worst thing you have to worry about is Griever. [He kept her after all~.] She likes to try hogging the bed.

I really don't want to be someone's burden.

If you were, I wouldn't have asked, Mai. [And if it's about Griever, he can lock her in the living room with him.]

Fine. Thank you, Leon.

Anytime. I'll be at Destiny Islands in a few, alright? You gonna need help carrying your stuff? [Truth be told, he's a little wary of going to the house lest Zuko be there ready to set him on fire, but he doesn't want her lugging everything around by herself, either.]

I'll be at the docks. I don't have a lot of things.

Got it. [Leon hangs up and makes his way to Destiny Islands as quickly as he's able. He's concerned the whole way over, which makes it quite a task to fly the ship, but he gets there fine. He's sure he'll have to think plenty of happy thoughts for the both of them on the way back. He finds her pretty quickly.

He's never been good at the whole cheering people up thing, but he tries to offer a smile nonetheless.] All set? [And he fully intends to carry her stuff anyway, because she's a lady and he's... well, he tries to be a gentleman.]

[Mai doesn't say much, she just gives him her things and then waits for him to help her onto the ship. Damn right, a lady.]

[He sets her things on the other seats inside the ship, making sure everything is secure before leading her into the ship. Once everything is ready, he sets the course for Radiant Garden and shows her the way to his house. It's small, but surprisingly well kept, especially with Griever bounding everywhere. He takes her things back to his room.]

You can stay in here. Help yourself to whatever and let me know if you need anything, alright?

[Mai was quiet the entire time and when she got to Leon's place, she only offered him a light nod.] Thank you, for doing this. It's really embarrassing.
