[Mai hasn't been having a good day. Okay, she hasn't been having a good week but she's out and about ready to make a change. She's looking fine and fresh, there's a few slips of paper in her hands and she keeps looking at a map while a moogle floats about behind her.]

You lied to me.

N-No I didn't. I was trying to-

I told you I was looking for a decent job and half the places you took me weren't even paying. Are you sure you know what you're doing?

[The poor moogle was flustered, she seemed upset and it didn't want this to fail. He hesitated and stuttered but Mai was all ready walking.]

Never-mind. I'll find a job myself. [And she picks up the communicator.] If anyone is needed some help, and you're actually going to pay me, I'm interested. I need a job. As soon as possible.

[When Zuko sees his message, it takes him a while to try to figure out what to do. Part of him is still angry with Mai -- and he's sure Mai is still angry with him. But now things are back to normal, maybe they can at least come to some sort of resolution.

...Or she might refuse to talk to him ever again. Whichever.]

Mai, we need to talk.

[Oh. It's Zuko. She doesn't want to talk to him but she knows better.]

So you finally calmed down. What do you want.

[Zuko sighs and takes a deep breath. Time to get this over and done with.]

Look, I know the last week made everyone act a little weird, and you had reason to be suspicious of me. Things should be back to normal now. I don't care if you like Leon or not, [except he totally does,] but I just want to say there's nothing going on between me and some other girl. That's all.

[He reaches as if to turn off the communicator, expecting Mai to yell at him, but he allows time for her to respond if she wants to.]

[And that made her pissed off again.]

I don't like Leon, Zuko. I love you. You're right, last week was- last week was strange, but it wasn't what I really feel.

[And she quiets down. Oops. Outbursts weren't right.]

I don't like Leon. Just get that through your head.

[He thought that she was using it as a convenient excuse to run off to Leon. Even now, Zuko feels anger and jealousy just thinking about him.

...But Mai just used the l-word. She'd never done that before.]

Are you and him really just friends? Be honest.

We are just friends! Believe me, Zuko, boys and girls can be friends without there having to be something between them. I broke up with you because your jealousy was offending.

[And she crosses her arms.]

...and you were chasing a girl. I couldn't ignore that.

So you just happen to be friends with some older, taller guy with a scar on his face and you think I wouldn't be a little suspicious? [Especially when Leon's scar isn't by any means disfiguring, the way Zuko's is. His insecurity about that is obvious in the way he turns his face away from the camera.]

I'll admit it. I did have a crush on her. I don't know what happened last week, but that's not how I really feel at all, something must have happened to mess with my head. But I wasn't lying when I said nothing happened between us -- all I did was meet her to apologise for something.

Your entire suspicion is based on the fact the guy has a scar and he's taller than you. Are you listening to yourself?

I never lied either when I told you we were going to hang out and nothing more. If you can't trust me then I don't see how this is getting any better. [Especially with things like last week. What if it had lasted longer? What if they were tricked even worse? She didn't want to think about that.]
