03 Night O Regret

[After its revealed just what was causing those strange feelings there were some things Kaname needed to resolve. Consumed by guilt, he refrained from making any sort of public post. The sooner they could put this behind them… the better]

[He’d left the castle, to make her departure less awkward but there was always the concern that this could come back to haunt him. What, if anything.. Did the young girl remember? There was something powerful locked away in her blood… it was quite possible that she had some resistance to having her memories erased]

Miss Tomoe…

[How exactly does one broach the subject]

Did you make it back… all right?

[Private to Yuuki (Video)]

Yuuki? Are you free? [You might notice that the backdrop has changed. It’s clearly Radiant Garden…. And he might already be in the vicinity of where he last saw Yuuki over the communicator…]

I need to see you…

[There’s a forlorn look in his eyes…]

[Action in Radiant Garden]

[Kaname is waiting somewhat impatiently for a response to his message to Yuuki.. He already traveled to Radiant Garden and was trying to look inconspicuous while also trying to avoid the light as much as possible. It wasn’t an easy task to accomplish. That arrow had made him feel things… for another person… it… it never should have happened. To make matters worse… Yuuki and him had had an argument just beforehand. He felt and probably looked completely miserable.

He might not have approved of her choice… but he didn’t want to lose her.]

[She stares at his message for a few minutes before she puts the device back into her bag. She could answer him, or she could just go to him, and right now it's easier to do the latter. Besides, the things they needed to say should be said face to face.

He'll probably smell her scent long before she appears, but when she does she stands boldly in a ray of sunlight that broke free from the clouds. Her coat protects her from harm, and the small shadow it casts over her face allows her small smile to be seen.]

Oniisama, I've been waiting.

[The communicator remained inactive, still clutched in his palm. The anxious seconds grew into anxious minutes. The anticipation was wearing heavily on him. How was he going to explain to her, what happened..? Or would he keep that between himself and the young girl? There were so many questions swirling around in his mind. He should have been here, when all those strange things began.. his greatest fear was that Yuuki had also been affected and that someone else might have taken advantage of the situation.. he needed to know that she was all right.

His grip tightened around the communicator, threatening to crush it. When he caught her scent, his grip loosened and he put away the device.

There she was illuminated in the beam of light as if she were the only one left in existence, the only one he could see. Kaname moved towards her, braving the sunlight for the chance to pull her into a tight embrace. There were no words, to start with, just that hug as he tried to erase the memory of the last few days just by being near her]

[No matter how many times he acted like this, she was pleasantly surprised. So much had happened just to be able to enjoy such a simple embrace. Now she returned it readily, wrapping her own arms around him.]

I've been staying in a room nearby, if you want to get out of the sun.

[It was a relief when she returned the embrace, without any hesitation]

I've been away for far too long... [He lingered a little longer before drawing back. From her time spent as a human, Yuuki seemed to be able to tolerate the sun more than most..] Mm. Let's go there. [They did have certain matters to discuss and they shouldn't be discussed openly..]

[Other purebloods do say she smells like sunlight, however that smells.

She grasped his hand gently, her eyes darting up at him to make sure it was okay to hold his hand like this, before she headed back. This time she kept to the shadows.]

You always manage to get so busy. I hope you haven't been wearing yourself out.

[The room she stays in is small, about the same size as her dorm room had been, but it's just a place she rents while she works. Once inside she hurriedly closed the curtains; they weren't horribly thick but it'd have to be enough.]

Last week was also a little strange, wasn't it?

[Catching her glance he gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. It was more than "okay". He allowed her to lead the way, as he kept to her side, the moment seeming so peaceful.]

You're the one I'm concerned about. Have you been taking care of yourself?

[When they get to her room, he remained near the doorway as she went around closing the curtains.]

Thank you, Yuuki. [There didn't seem to be too many options for seating.. He took the liberty of sitting on the bed, then he invited her to sit beside him. The frown on his lips deepened when she brought up last week.]

Yes, it was. [He gave her a sidelong glance] I hope you managed to avoid the whole affair.

I'm fine! And now that Aidou-senpai is here, he's been helping. He even made a cake for my birthday.

[She looked at the seat she was offered and blushed. All she could do was continue to ramble to try to make it seem less awkward as she sat.]

It was actually pretty good. I think if Kaname-oniisama were to taste like a cake, he would taste like that cake.

[Yep, she just went there. But it had such a rich, warm taste, just like his blood. That was probably why she'd liked it so much.

As for the past week, she looked down at her hands and tried to laugh it off.]

I didn't exactly avoid it... [Maybe she can avoid it by bringing up something even more unpleasant.] At least Zero isn't here, right?

I'm glad, you haven't been alone this whole time. [.. but I don't want to talk about Aidou, just now] We should do something special to celebrate.

Would you like that Yuuki? [He asked while slipping an arm around her, and resting his head on top of hers]

[So she did. A light chuckle escaped his lips, her comparison having caught him completely off guard] I'd like to think I taste better than cake.. at least.. to you. [~~Because no one else matters~~]

[This is starting to get very worrisome.. she's trying to distract him with the fact that Zero isn't here? Then... whatever it was..... must have been really bad. He sat up and tilted her chin lightly upwards, before leaning in terribly close. His eyes filled with concern] Whatever happened Yuuki.. you shouldn't feel guilty. It was out of your control.

I'd like that, especially if it means you'll stay longer.

[Of course he does, but she can't really form the right words to say as much, her cheeks are far too flushed.]

Um... Senpai will need somewhere to stay soon, too. I thought--

[Her words trailed off when he touched her chin, and she swallowed them back. She always met his gaze honestly, and now was no different, even if she wished it could be.]

You, too. At least, that's what I want to say, but I...

[If she admitted her unreasonable jealousy, would he think less of her? She doesn't want to take the risk.]

But I guess it doesn't really matter now.

Then it's settled.[He owes her at least this much.]

[Kaname did derive a certain amount of enjoyment from saying just the right things to fluster her, or draw out the color on those cheeks]

I have found suitable lodgings on another world.. with enough room for all of us. [So there's no need for Aidou to move in with you... if that's where that line was headed.] I tried to contact you about it earlier, but the message didn't seem to get through. [... which was actually a good thing, since he still would have gone missing at an inconvenient time for helping her settle into a new place.]

But..? [He could hardly hold it against her, as he too felt unreasonably jealous that someone had been with her during that time]

I would be lying if.. I said I wasn't curious about what happened. There should be no secrets between us Yuuki.. [Except for mine]

Sorry, I got a little busy helping out with everything before. Where will we be living? [As long as it's not an underground mansion, she'll be happy. And even then, if it meant staying with him, she'd live anywhere.

She shakes her head. She just can't admit that she's jealous--it seems so petty.]

I don't like keeping secrets from you... [Any more than she likes upsetting him, anyway.] So I... I gave senpai a vial of my blood and I let someone else try a drop of it. I just wanted to help...

[She looks away; she hasn't seen him in so long and yet this is what they have to talk about when they meet again.]

Did anything happen to you?

That's perfectly understandable. It's on the Beast Castle world. [It seemed the most hospitable given the heartless levels, the shade offered by the local flora, and given that it hadn't been the center of one of the major battlefields in the last skirmish]

[Whatever she was about to say... looked like it was something difficult or that she wasn't comfortable with. When he hears what she's done he tried to quell any jealously inside of him. After everything that had happened.... he didn't want this to be a wholly unpleasant conversation. Yuuki had given Aidou blood... like she said she would. He would be lying if he said he wasn't disappointed but...] I see. [Who was this other person? If he voiced the question it would sound too much like an accusation, and an accusation was the last thing they needed after that ordeal]

[He grew quiet at her question] To me, no. [Technically, his actions affected Hotaru more than himself...] You must.. be thirsty after everything.

[It took her a long time to decide whether she should answer this or not. When she finally does it is voice only and private. ]

Yes, I made it back.

[Should she thank him for asking or be angry about what happened? Hotaru's feeling were still a bit confused.]

[At least she answered but.... Kaname wasn't sure how to continue. He hadn't really lost control like this in... well.. forever. ~~And he'd asked a question he already knew the answer to~~]

Good.

[......... but he still wasn't sure what she remembered]

I.. do apologize for that evening.

[This was awkward. What to say... what to say...]

Um...

[Maybe just asking would be best?]

You are a vampire?

[Awkward didn't begin to cover it. He was silent for several moments after she asked that question...]

.. And you're a princess?

[~~Why should I be the only one being asked something personal? LOL~~]

Or at least.. you were. [Then he addressed her question more directly since he at least owed her that] Yes. I am a vampire. [Another concern being, was Hotaru... also going to become a monster like him? A bite from a pure blood would turn a human into a vampire, normally but there was something unusual about her] Are.. you feeling any different than before?

[How did he learn so much about from just a bite? ]

I feel ok...

[Confused though and so very uncertain about everything. ]

Why did you... Why did you do all of that? Just because you are a vampire?
