[The heartless have been getting to quite a few people lately. It's hard to tell at first whether Ami is one of them. She's inside, seated at a small table and playing chess against herself. Masters of the game would note the arrangement of the board as a very famous end game maneuver. She's testing it again, noting its weaknesses and the ways to defend against it.

It's keeping her mind off the shadows, and the things that always seem to not-quite-be-there when she looks. It's keeping her mind off the doubts, the worries, the insecurities. But there's very little of her usual gentle smile despite the seeming calm. She has a perhaps not-so-incongruous question.]

What are the things you do to relax and unwind your mind?

I never really asked about that.

It would be a development beyond what my world has currently.

Different worlds develop different. I can't say much about yours, but this world was pretty advanced I believe

[Her world is somewhat odd in that, while almost no one outside her group of friends knows it, the world and human beings evolved twice.

She supposes with all that, it can't be expected that they'd have reached the level of development of some worlds - or even what their own world used to be capable of.]

I understand. I'd like to be able to see more of it.

I'd like to go see other worlds, you can always learn so much from visiting each one. it's simply fascinating that way.

I also traveled to other worlds for awhile here. I suppose it was a new experience. [For a girl who'd wanted to travel and see new things all her life, she doesn't seem as excited as she should. The heartless tend to take the joy from it.]

For most it appears so, but with only a limited number, it can only last for so long.

That depends on how much there is to learn in each one.

Once you get the story and what each world can do, then there's only a limited amount left to learn.

I'm not sure about that. There are the people there, their customs and history, their own literature and books, too. There are many things.

History is their story. Take that out of the picture and see what you mean. But you also can't speak to ever single person of that world. It's near impossible.

I understand, but I can still learn about the large events that shaped it, like studying other countries back home.

I never really thought about it like that.

[Though there wasn't much in terms of countries where he was from.]

That's why I always wanted to travel back home, too. There's always more to see and learn.

I think I'd prefer to learn about other worlds, than my own. But, that could just be me.

This is the world we have to live in right now. It's only natural to want to learn about it right away.

It's natural to want to learn about the worlds and the people. Everyone you talk to, you want to know more about.
