[Video / Radiant Garden Action ]

[The video was an accident. A button had been mistakenly hit when the Commander had reached up to the bed stand trying in vain to reach the small bottle of potion. He coughed raggedly from his couched position on the floor. He was far to weak to stand and the potion bottle was just out of reach…

His hand dropped away. It was just too far. This would be the end then. Coughing his last few breaths out on the rented floor of a Radiant Garden hotel. At least the pain would end. Everything would be over and he wouldn’t have to endear this pain any more. That almost sounded good.

A heartless danced closer just waiting for the man’s final defenses to drop. ]

A heartless?

[Eagle managed to choke the question out before collapsing in a coughing fit again. Why was a heartless here?]

There isn't very much to tell. There really isn't very much that we know about this kind of illness.

[Eagle nodded back toward the dresser where the potion had been sitting but now the object was on the floor. It had been knocked off in Eagle's efforts to reach the darn thing but at least the jar hadn't broken. ]

[He moved over and picked up the potion, popping it open and passing it to Eagle.]

There's nothing I can't fix, I pride myself in that.

[Eagle gratefully took the potion and drank a little of it before saying anything in return. The potion worked fast and he could already feel the relief just that small amount had on his strained lungs. ]

There are some things that even a strong will can't change.

[Usually Eagle had the same kind of outlook. If there was something in his way he would take it out without fail, but about his illness he was always a little less hopeful. ]

You leave that to me and try not to die until I can figure out what you have. My world might be different than yours, after all.

Kaiba?

[You were actually going to try to... Eagle has to smile at that. You really were a very dear friend. ]

I couldn't die until I had completed my mission anyway.

[His way of saying he would fight the illness until he absolutely couldn't anymore. ]

Good, I'm not a doctor so it might take some time.

Even if you were it might still be a challenge.

A challenge just makes things more interesting.

I enjoy a challenge myself.

[They have this VERY much in common!]

Then you should know I won't be scared off by the mere thought of a challenge.

I didn't really think you would be scared off.

[Well, he is going to say it. ]

I'm just sorry you had to find out about this at all. It is my burden to bear you shouldn't have to worry about it.

You're not dead yet. One incurable sickness doesn't matter until you die and the rest of us are stuck with nothing but memories.

[Telling a guy he isn't going to die when he already has planned out the method of his death. ]

I do know this will be difficult Kaiba but... there is no point in denying what will happen.

Oh? And why is that? You're telling me you're just like those freaks who believe in fate and destiny? Reality check, Eagle: we control our own lives.

There are some things that can't be changed no matter how much one wishes for it to be. The only thing we can do is try and make something worthwhile come out of it.

Are you trying to tell me you intend to die at some point?

[... Directly confronted with the question it is Eagle's natural reaction to think about deflecting it and avoid actually answering. Of course the silence is pretty much confirmation of just that. ]

[Eagle doesn't have to tell Kaiba anything else, he can guess just fine. Quite frankly? Not excited about it.]

We'll see about that. Hurry up and drink some more potion.

[Eagle had forgotten he was still holding that bottle filled with potion. At Kaiba's urging he did go ahead and finish the rest of it off. There would be no point in dying right now anyway. He needed to wait until that world, Cephiro, reappeared.]

[And he walked around his house looking at the place Eagle had been living in.]

I hope you know I'm not going to leave until I know you're better. Right?

[It was more 'rented room' than house. Eagle had been spending his time traveling between worlds so he hadn't really setup any kind of permanent residence. ]

What?

[The question was one of surprise. He had perfectly heard what Kaiba said. ]

But don't you have other obligations?

So what. I can manage taking a few days off. The world won't get more screwed up than it all ready is.

Thank you, but there really wouldn't be much you could do. Once the potion works I will be fine again. It really only takes it a few moments.

[D'aw. Looking out for him again. You really are a great person Kaiba. ]

Just lay down, shut up, and get some rest.

[He's going to read these books.]

[Oh! Well... when put that way he could certainly put up a struggle... ]
