Ladies, ladies! There's enough of me to go around!

[Dante was celebrating his freedom at large with beer, food, and some wenches. Truth be told, he had been good, he hadn't exactly been looking for anything in particular when he walked out of the bar with five women bickering amongst themselves on who go to hold his arms.]

You know what I like most about freedom? The fact that I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, and I won't have to be interrupted because I have some debt to paid.

[He tumbled slightly, the girls weren't exactly making it easy to walk.]

Hey now, there's no need to be so rough. You're wastin' your time. I'm a taken man after-all. [They're were whines.]

Okay, I'm not taken yet but I'm on my way. If you buy me a drink I'll tell you all about my muse.

[The girls giggled and blushed as they led the way to another bar.]

By the way, to my hero's and saviors: take your pick of these fine ladies. I'll pay for the night so don't go worrying about that.

Tell me what you want. You want food? You want, I don't know, a stuffed toy. What the hell do kids in this world like? Ice cream, maybe?

You don't get it, I don't want anything. I don't need anything. If you want to repay me, then go out and use your freedom to protect someone else. Pay it forward - make the worlds a little better, instead of a little worse.

[There's a level of maturity and... understanding in his voice with those statements that's unusual in a guy his age. It's a bit surreal.]

Fine. But I'm sharing my doughnuts with you eventually.

[He's died for these worlds, Dante. Choosing to do something like that, it does things to you. Makes you see things differently. Not that Ven wasn't already pretty dang close to being there before that point, anyway. He grins.]

You can keep those, too. They're too sweet for me.

You don't like doughnuts? Now you're just pulling my leg.

I don't really like sweet things all that much. They're... what's the word? Cloying, I think. It just doesn't taste all that good.

[He's not your typical teen, that's for sure.]

I'll respect that. It's not completely weird.

So see? I don't need anything, so don't worry about it.

[When was the last time you encountered altruism, Dante?]

[Try never.]

You're pretty grown-up, Ven. I feel like an idiot I never noticed that.

[And he just shrugs at that.]

A lot of stuff happened here before all of you guys showed up. It kind of... makes you see what's important and what's not important really quickly. And the things that aren't important, there's no point in worrying about them, right?

You're right. It just makes me realize how little I know about you.

[And he gives a light chuckle at that.]

There's not that much to know.

[...That's only not a blatant lie because he honestly doesn't believe he's that special. But yeah, there's a lot about himself he doesn't let out without a lot of effort.]

I don't know anything abotu you. Where did all this maturity come from. I thought I had issues.

[And he shrugs.]

I told you - this is what we do. This is what we're supposed to do with our lives. It's what I've always wanted to do with my life.

You dream big, kid.

Not really. It's just what I've always done, and I want to keep doing it.
