Lili...I think...something's wrong

[fidgets uncomfortably]

I finally gave in and bought shoes [mainly because she went for a walk and stepped into something gross and squishy and no, she doesn't want to talk about it], but...they don't feel right. The moogle that sold them to me assured me that I had them on right, but he didn't really have feet so I'm not sure if he's really the best voice of reason on this and....

[camera pans down to show a pair of shoes on her feetsies]

[camera pans back up to her on the brink of tears because SOMETHING IS WRONG AND SHE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT]

[Taking a break from his work with the moogles... to sit and do some homework. Obviously Ritsuka doesn't know the meaning of the word break. As he jots down some notes he sees Rapunzel making a slightly frantic phone call. That was odd... usually the girl looked so cheerful.]

Rapunzel?

[He sets his books down and goes over to the sobbing girl.]

What happened? Did one of the moogles get mad at you?

[sniffles and shoots you a pathetic look]

No, it's not the moogles.... it's just... [picks her foot up a bit to show you the shoes] they feel so wrong

[Tilts his head curiously and stares at the shoe, that was now almost chest level with him.]

Wrong? Are they not the right size?

I don't know, I think they are. It's just...

[kind of mumbles] I've never worn shoes before... and they feel awful.

Never wore shoes? [Well, some worlds did have strange customs. Maybe they just weren't needed where she came from. He kneels down to have a closer look.]

Well if they're too tight they might just be the wrong size. But they should feel awful. Aren't your feet warmer? And look, the bottoms are padded so you wont get cut if you want to run around.

[He stands back up.] How about giving them a try for a bit longer? Take a few more steps.

[sniffs] well, I guess they are warmer, but it feels so strange not to...feel you know?

[wiggles her toes inside the shoes] I'm so used to being aware of what's beneath me, it's sort of like wandering around a dark room with my feet.

[sdflkj why are you so precious? she smiles at you and takes a few hesitant steps, walking a circle around your person and her face scrunches up a bit in thought] Lili says I just need to break them in, that they'll get better when I get used to them....

[He couldn't really say he knew that feeling. Even when in his house, he liked to wear slippers.] No, I don't know... but it does sound a little scary...

[The thin cat tail swishes calmly as he watches Rapunzel trot around him. He was ready to grab her hand if she stumbled but she seemed to have no trouble.] Mhm, your friend is right.

[He then gets an idea!] How about you get a pair of sandals instead? They have pads so you're protected, but your foot wont be completely covered!

[ He's looking concerned. He wants to help but he doesn't know how.]

What's wrong?

Those shoes do look kinda flimsy.

[ Here he is, failing at being comforting.]

they're awful I don't understand how people can run around in shoes all day!

Uh...it takes getting used to, and it beats having your feet get cut by pointy rocks, or losing a toe to frostbite.

Hm...maybe socks would help?

[stares at you in a small amount of horror about that losing a toe bit]

would they help? the moogle had no opinion on socks and since that meant more on my feet....

They help when it's cold, and they're soft. It might make the shoes more comfortable.

Rapunzel? What's wrong?!

Do they not fit? Are they painful? Can you not get them off?

[Lili! you're sort of almost here and 'punzel misses you so baaad]

I...I think they do? The moogle measured me and everything and was very kind, but Lili, they feel wrong do shoes always feel this awful?

Well, they certainly take some getting used to. But you chose a good type! They're very cute. And they aren't heels, so you should be all right.

When I was getting used to wearing heels every day, I'd have blisters every night. Try soaking your feet every once in a while. It should help.

[still, a sad face]

blisters? that sounds awful why did you wear them, if they did so much damage?

[eyes her little flats warily]

I'm a dancer! It's a part of the trade.

Don't worry, those probably won't hurt you at all. But if you prefer not to wear shoes, no one is going to make you. If they try, I'll hit them.

heh, thanks Lili. But I think I'm going to try to deal with them. There are some horrible things in the road, you know?

D-Did something happen? Did you hurt your foot by stepping on something? I can come to Traverse Town to heal you!

Nothing so drastic there was just.... [unhappy face] things that do not belong in the road, sometimes. Smelly things, that should be properly disposed of.

[yes. she stepped in animal poo. HORRIFIED RAPUNZEL IS HORRIFIED]

Th-That's horrible! Perhaps the leader of the town should employ people to clean the streets so things like that don't happen.
