04 ❥ Family Reunion ❥ [Action/Video on Destiny Island]

[Everyone had been acting so strange lately, including herself. Since when did she take up playing card games anyway? Something that nerdy was more like something Umino would engage in not her. Either way, the cards seemed to have lost their luster and the rules where swiftly fading from her memory.]

Hey everyone. I just thought I'd check in to see how ya'll are doing. Are you all .. alright?

[She questioned unsure of what she should say. Naru cast her eyes down to the sand for a few moments before looking back up.]

Say did any of you-

[She trailed off abruptly when something took her eye.] Momma?!

Naru, oh Naru! I've been so worried about you.

I don't believe it! Is it- is it really you? [Standing up, she left the communicator on the ground.] I didn't know if- when I'd see you again. [Her voice wavered like she might start crying]

Well I'm here now and everything is going to be okay.

[Rushing over, Naru closed the gap between them and embraced her mother in a tight hug] I'm so glad you're here!

My darling daughter. Let's leave this place, and go home. [She gently stoked Naru's hair]

Didn't the moogles explain anything to you? There's no way to get home. Not yet.

Oh... there's a way. You trust your mother don't you Naru? Just come with me and I'll get us home...

Get away from her!

[A blast of energy swirled towards mother and daughter causing the dark shadow pretending to be Naru's mom to hop backwards before she was caught up in the attack. ]

That's not your mother! She just wants to drag you into the darkness!

[Fully absorbed in the moment, Naru was completely unprepared for the interruption or the arrival of another familiar face. A gasp escaped her lips as her "mother" pulled away]

Momma?!

[Naru stilled when she realized whose voice had interjected into their reunion. She slowly looked over her shoulder as she turned around to see Nephrite standing there]

Nephrite?! I- I don't understand. [How could she choose between the two of them? Was her mother really an illusion? She didn't want to believe it.. or was Nephrite the illusion?! She was so confused and didn't know what to think or who to believe. She timidly looked between the two of them trying to discern who was telling the truth.]

That isn't your mother. It is a shadow created from the darkness.

[He frowned. Who better than a former Dark Kingdom General to notice something like that?]

She doesn't know the way to your home.

[Nephrite seemed adamant about it but... her mother hadn't done anything strange. Not really.]

Are- are you really back? But I thought? [That I'd lost you forever. Again]

[Nephrite walked over to stand beside Naru, but he did keep an eye out for that fake 'mother' figure. ]

Thought that I had given into the darkness again?

[There is that familiar arrogant smirk. ]

I was trying to understand the heartless not join them.

[Just his moving closer was enough to make her blush. Hearing his words made her feel terribly guilty. Whenever anyone had spoken to her about Nephrite after he'd left, she'd been the strong one. She'd said he might come back, she'd said that somehow things would be okay. So why had she doubted him as all? She must have, right? To be so surprised that he did come back? Or maybe she was just surprised that he came back to her?]

I'm so glad. [She smiled up as him, looking as if she might cry] You left so suddenly.. [Naru found herself playfully swatting him as she cast her eyes to the floor, in part to hide the emotions that must have been written on her face.] You should have told me what you were gong to do. [There was a note of anger in her voice but she wasn't really angry with him, just worried]

Mother: Naru are you really going to cast your own mother aside for some strange man? Is he the one you stole that prized gem for. Naru, he's ... he's not someone you should be with at all.

[She was crying which meant she was happy to see him? But, swatting at him as if she was mad? The mixed signals were more than a little confusing as the subtle concepts of love were still pretty new to him.
He could at least tell she was upset so he moved to grab her shoulders in what he hoped was a comforting gesture.]

I had used those dark doors before I didn't realize it would be so difficult to return.

[He though an hour or two and he would be back. The idea that he might have been missing for months just never occurred to him at all. ]

Why? Were you afraid I wouldn't come back?

[Nephrite wanted to say something more but he just wasn't sure of the right words... and then of course there was the false mother figure who had decided to speak again. She received a glare that would send most low level youma into fits of sheer terror. A creature like that he could dispatch easily enough, but... Naru... He was concerned for her feelings. ]

Do you still believe me?

[Naru didn't realize how much she was confusing the poor guy. She knew that relationships were still new to him, and really to her too.. but she couldn't help expressing herself in this fashion. Feeling his hands on her shoulders caused her heart to skip a beat. His touch felt different from her "mothers" and not just because she was attracted to him. Her mother's hug had felt cold, hollow.. and this gesture of Nephrite's emphasized that.]

Dark doors? What do you mean, what are those?

[The color on her cheeks deepened as he hit the nail on the head]

You could have gotten hurt or worse. [So yes, she was afraid that you wouldn't come back]

[She pressed into him for a real hug, and so she wouldn't have to look at that farce of a mother anymore. As much as she wanted her to be real, she wasn't. Why did youma, and heartless apparently always take on her mother's form?]

Yes. I still believe you!

It doesn't matter.

[Those doorways into darkness were something he didn't want to show her. Hopefully she would never have to see one.
When Naru moved to bury her face in his chest he instinctively wrapped an arm around her to pull her closer to him. She didn't have to watch this...

The fake mother moved closer with her arms outstretched seeking to pull her errant daughter away from that strange man. To the darkness! That was the only way out Naru-chan!
The shadow was never given the chance to snatch at Naru. Nephrite dispatched her quickly enough with a second more powerful burst of energy. The creature screamed a last 'come hither' before fading into nothingness again. ]

It's gone now. You're safe.

[Naru didn't push anymore for information on the dark doors. If Nephrite didn't want her to know to much about them it must be for a reason. She was glad for his support, as the creatures was removed. Even if it wasn't her actual mother it's cries stung her ears, and tugged at her heart.

It was over in only a few moments but she didn't feel comfortable pulling away just yet.]

And so are you.

[She gave him one more squeeze to make sure he wasn't going to disappear too.]

[Him? Mmm... yes. He was safe too, probably. He couldn't help giving the area a quick once around to make certain they were actually alone though. Too often unexpected guests had arrived to disturb scenes like this.]

Would you have gone with her?

[When she finally drew back, she gently wiped her eyes to rid herself of the remaining tears still clinging to her face]

I- I don't really know. [She admitted, and looked up at him]

I wanted to believe it was actually her. [She did miss her mother terribly]

[Now he is pretty certain she would have. He had never had any trouble getting her to follow him into dangerous situations... Naru was a bit too trusting. ]

I shouldn't have left. It's too dangerous for you all by yourself.

[He frowned. He should have known that from the beginning and he finds a certain amount of anger in himself for not thinking of it sooner. A girl like this has to be protected since she had no powers to protect herself.]

[A bit, yes.]

Well- I wasn't exactly all by myself ya' know. I've made a lot of friends here.

[She tried to ease his fears and perhaps some of his guilt]

.. And you arrived just in time so there's nothing to worry about, right?

[Trying to make him feel better even though she must feel sad about what just happened? She was a strange girl. ]

Your friends weren't doing a very good job.

[The friendship concept is still a bit new to him too annnd he didn't see any of them here. ^^]

[She was a normal girl 8/, you just don't get feelings]

I think everyone has been having a hard time with what's been going on lately

Naru! Be careful! I sense evil-- something doesn't feel right!

Evil? No.. [She shook her head] It's just my mother. [so what if she had a strange yellow cast to her eyes]

[The last time you said that, she was manipulated by the Dark Kingdom, Naru! Oh, how she wishes she could say that.] That's not your mother. Someone is trying to trick you.

[Creatures seemed to love using her mother's image] Trick me? Why would anybody here want to trick me?

Naru! I wouldn't listen to her. We don't know if there really is a way out.

[Considering if they did wouldn't they have gone already.]

[where would Naru be without people to look after her?]

That did seem... odd to me too but.. [She looked up at her "mother" and didn't want to let the illusion go]

[Who knows.]

Don't worry, I'll get someone to help you, please don't go with her.

[In trouble most likely XD]

"Mother": You are such a wicked girl, telling my daughter to defy me. Naru, you shouldn't associate with a people like her.

[Naru pulled back and looked between the comm and her "mom"]

I'm not sure... what to do.

Just stay there. I'll get someone to come get you. Once I ask where you are?

[She needs to get there change then actually help, this doesn't sound so hard.]

I'm on Destiny Island, on the beach.

[Then to her "mother"]

There's been a lot of strange things going on, she's just worried about my well being.

That maybe true, but at the same time can we really trust what we see?

What?

[She looked back to the communicator. Oops, Minako had thought she was talking to her when she was addressing her "mother". She sheepishly replied as if they hadn't gotten their wires crossed. It had been her fault for not using a name when she said it]

I'm not really sure if we can.

Take it from experience, the people we see before us are not the ones we love or cared about or even a former crush. I can't say I know what they are though.

You think they're in league with the heartless?

Mother: Lies! This girl is filling your head with lies!

I don't know, but given what has happened before, I wouldn't put it past them to do this.

[She's getting closer.]

I'm going to have to switch my feed off for a while, Naru please be careful.

[She can't let her see her change into Sailor Venus, she had made that mistake once before, but not again.]

There's no need to get so angry, momma.

[That was a bit weird.... her mother usually didn't get this angry this quickly]

Oh- ah.... I'll try to be. [She answered Minako]

[She switched the feed off as she changed into Sailor Venus, making her way towards where she was.]

Naru-chan! Hide quickly!

[Shes going to attack your 'mother']

Sailor Venus!?

[She wasn't surewhat was really going on but she knew she could always trust the Sailor Senshi. She did as she was told but the beach didn't offer much cover.]

Mother: You can't escape me, you can't escape the darkness. Even if I am defeated now, a sliver of darkness will always exist in everyone's hearts! That sliver will grow and consume each and every one of you!

[Letting go of the pretense, the mom dropped her disguise and bubbled up into a shadowy night mare of a creature, ready to strike at the interfering senshi]

[Venus grabbed the chain that was around her waist and whipped it around, until she caught it on the other side. Once she was ready, she aimed the attack at the now shadowy figure.]

[Calling out her attack, a blast on energy was aimed at the creature.]
