[The device turns on to show Tidus underwater. He's in the ocean, the one on Destiny Islands to be precise. He gives it one glance before he appears to stare up at the sky. He doesn't move much. It stays that way for several minutes before he resurfaces.]

You know, I don't care about what people say about the darkness anymore. I don't think it's so bad. I know how that must sound, considering I'm just like the rest of you...or I should probably say, most of you. It's not really the darkness that I think is the problem.

It's the people behind the power that can either be a problem, or a good thing. I don't think there's some secret rule to being "worthy" of any sort of power. Sometimes you can do something other people can't do, and sometimes you don't have that ability. That's all there is to it. I'm not going to let that stop me, I just don't think anyone should beat themselves up over it.

[He glances down, eyes blank, as if he's trying very hard to conceal his emotions.]

I'm resigning from my position on the Restoration Committee. I...really have no place there anymore. I'm not giving up, but I betrayed all of you, all for what turned out to be a false hope. So I'm definitely not "worthy" of being there.

And... I also don't think it makes you any more unworthy. We make mistakes. Sometimes, we want something so badly that we forget the other things. It doesn't make it right, but you shouldn't detach yourself from the group to punish yourself. They - we need you.

I realize that's not my decision to make. [Both on Tidus having to make his own decisions and Leon being the leader of the Restoration Committee and all.] But I hope you'll think about it at least.

[When Leon finally decides to respond, it's on a secured feed and with a look that's straining not to look angry or severe. But he is very angry. He didn't come here to yell, though. He just wants to understand.]

[It's painful to see Leon like that, but he stays composed. Leon at least deserves an explanation.]

It hurt, seeing her like that. It wasn't fair that I had a chance to be happy while she was--is suffering. [He hesitates, as if to say more, but he quickly shoves those thoughts aside.] That's not what I had fought for. I wanted to believe that it would help her.

It's not an excuse, but it's why.

You're right about the darkness, I think. It just depends on the person and motive.

That's pretty much what I think. It's just another tool...or something. I don't even think it would spread on its own that much. Why would it?

There are plenty of people with darkness in there hearts, maybe the darkness used that to spread.

But I believe that if you learn to control it, it can be used in a good way, instead of a bad one.

You're right, you know. Darkness on its own isn't the problem. Everything's got both Light and Darkness in it. The problem just is that Darkness itself is easier to use for destruction, so if someone has a goal and they want the quick way to it... they turn to Darkness. We don't want to get rid of the Darkness, we just want it to be balanced again, because this inbalance is what's causing all of this.

If it's going to be balanced, maybe there should be some people looking into it for those reasons, instead of using it to try and hurt people. No one has to, but maybe it would help.

It's a good idea, it's just... not really that easy. Serving the Light requires giving up a lot of time to training and discipline; it's not an easy thing. And trying to use the Darkness for good - it's not impossible, there've been a couple people who've done it. But it's really hard to maintain that devotion. It's easy to use it a little more and a little more until it corrupts you before you've even realized it. I wish that didn't happen, but it's a fact we have to deal with.

[Crisis of faith? That sounds right to him.] When those portals showed up, and everything was in chaos, I let it get to me. I was going about it the wrong way then, but I still think it's worth looking into. I think there are options that have been overlooked, and a lot of people are trying too hard to focus on just the appealing things to them.

Things, most things, are not good or bad — they just are. It takes a lot to make something 'evil' just as well as it does for something 'good'. It takes a person, a situation and a whole of circumstances to change a thing into good or bad. Besides, who's to say that 'light' is so good anyway? Light casts shadows, after all, and aren't shadows 'darkness'? ( rambling over now, sorry ) I hope so.
