( there’s a clunk of a book falling to a table, which hits her device and causes it to start recording. )

Bother, I’ll get that in a moment… ( she mutters to herself and for a time it goes unnoticed to the housekeeper that the trinket is recording at all, as she’s still busying herself with dusting the shelf the book fell from. clearly it’s been far too long since this place had a proper and complete cleaning, she’s been trying, but the whole building needed a one over and it’s been taking a lot of time.

Belle finally settles down to a chair in the front room of Rumpel’s shop, fanning herself with the collar of her dress as she tosses the rag to the table. ) So much work to do here, this is almost worse than Dark Castle was.

( it’s then that she finally notices the device and smiling to it, leans to grasp it. )

Well, well… I don’t suppose anyone wants to lend a hand with a bit of clean-up? ( she chuckles, considering it’s not really what one would normally call a ‘bit’ of a clean-up. ) I suppose I might as well serve this as a public announcement: anyone with severe dust allergens might want to avoid Rumpelstiltskin’s store — at least for another hour or two before I’ve finished with it.

[So messy. He's lucky he hasn't buried himself in clutter.]

Hmm! Perhaps it is. I certainly have the edge in being a bit more ruthless. [He sees the blushing, Belle. But he'll be quite good and not comment on it, instead spending his energy trying not to smile. And failing.]

I'm sure that's precisely what you meant.

( and now she's trying so hard not to smile herself. also failing. ) You're not going to be seen as very ruthless with a sweet smile like that, you know. ( she couldn't help it. had to be said. )

[He just laughs, his usual manic and unsteady giggle.

But he pauses at that next bit. Were his skin not so strange already, he may well have been blushing.] I can't imagine what you mean, my dear. Are you sure you're seeing straight?

( this is where she smirks. ) There's absolutely nothing wrong with my eyes.

[So she has a little evil streak in her after all, doesn't she? Ah, why does that make her even more attractive?] You're certain?

Well, perhaps they are working perfectly.

( because she's just that magnanimously fantastic. ) Quite certain indeed, good sir.

Very much so, I think.

[It's true. Completely true.] "Good sir?" Well now that is a first for me.

I'm glad to hear it.

But now tell me, deary, you're not running yourself ragged cleaning this place, mm?

Well you are a 'sir' and I find you to be good, you know. I think it fits. ( she giggles softly. )

I'm glad that you're glad.

Ragged? ( a tsk. ) Do I look worn to you?

You do. It still boggles the mind a bit. [He laughs himself, waving a hand.]

No no, you look ravishing as always, but there is quite the layer of dust about. There's time to clear it all, no sense rushing too much.

Oh, nonsense. ( she waves her hand dismissively ) Your mind, perhaps. Fits rather well in mine.

I'm sure there is, I'm just filling my time between tea time and meeting people over this... Network, thing.

[Well, it boggles his mind then. He can agree with that.]

So long as you're not exhausting yourself, my dear. ...will there be teatime soon?

If you're wanting tea, then, I can take a break to make you some?

[...she reads him like a book. He grins, all teeth and notably less vague malice than the expressions most others are treated to.] That would be lovely!

And sit with me for a cup.

Then I'll get on it for you. ( wait, sit with him? but there's so much to doooo... nope. she can attempt to protest all she wants, but he'll figure out some way to have her take a seat when the time comes. but that moment isn't right now, so for now, she'll protest in the hopes that for once she might win! )

Now now, I can take a moment to make you some, but your clients aren't going to want to purchase items off of dusty shelves, you know.

[He'll get his way. He's good at getting his way. It is a talent of his. Yes. But he grins and claps his hands together.] Lovely! Wonderful.

Oh no, my clients will buy how they must. They can be tolerant while we finish setting up shop. But yes, yes. Tea!

( giving a light shake of her head, she proceeds to the kitchen to set the water boiling and prepare all things necessary for making him his tea.

eventually she's pouring it into a cup for him, setting it down to the table for him. )

There you are, Rumpelstiltskin dear. Tea for you, ( annnnd she picks up a rag. ) cleaning for me.

[Rumpelstiltskin settles into his seat and reaches for his tea quite happily. He does lift a hand though, waggling a finger.] No no, sit!

[A little gesture and her rag is disappearing entirely and a chair is pulling itself out for her.]

( a soft, startled gasp leaves her lips as the rag vanishes from existence. well, that's another win for him then, isn't it? giving a soft shake of her head, she presses her palms to tuck her dress against her rear and sits. )

Are you lonely for company? ( she's teasing. )

[All the wins are Rumpelstiltskin's. But he beams at her cheerily, sipping at his tea.] Desperately, yes.

So humor a lonely old man, mm?

Oh, I'm certain. ( she shakes her head lightly, crossing her legs under the table. leaning on her elbow, she watches him. )

Old? ( she waves her hand dismissively. ) Oh you are not.

[He nudges a second cup over towards her.]

You, my dear, are full of flattery today. I find I rather like it.

You don't look a day over two hundred. ( a teasing jest as she lifts her own cup, since he's insisting, and sips it. )

[A pause and his nose wrinkles at that.] Not that flattering flattery though.

[A dramatic sigh, and he contents himself to sip his own tea.]

I was joking, joking Rumpelstiltskin. ( with that, she reaches her hand over to gently pat his own in a bit of comfort for her bad jest. )

I really don't think you look aged at all. I hardly believe you're as old as you claim to be.

[And now that manic little laugh is back.] Of course you were. After all, I'm a devilishly handsome sort, and quite spry.

[And modest. Another laugh.] I am glad to know you think so. I'd hate to think you saw me as an ancient.
