[The video is on. But Rumpelstiltskin is unaware of this, largely because it was turned on as it was flung against a wall.

He's having a bit of a tantrum. These are, thankfully, quite rare, but also quite violent. There is broken glass strewn about, vials and bottles shattered and small pools of variously colored liquids.]

Useless! All of this entirely useless. How is it there's not one pair in true love in this entire mess of an existence?!

[It's about here his eyes fall on his communicator and he realizes he's being watched. He straightens up a bit, schools his face into a bit of a smile. Tense around the edges, pulled a bit too taut over his features.]

Well dearies, sorry you had to see that. Call it a bit of frustration and homesickness. I suppose perhaps while I have some of your attention, I should make the most of it. What is the happiest memory you have? What would you be willing to sacrifice to reclaim it?

Oh, thank goodness. I think... I wouldn't even know how to tell her about this place!

[She looks thoughtful for a moment.]

No, I just... I'm not very good at not telling the truth, I think. I don't usually have to.

[He laughs at that.] Somehow, I'm not surprised, deary.

[Blink.]

Is that... bad?

Of course not. The world needs people like you in it, maybe even more of you.

[A grin here. He means it to be reassuring, but nont of his expressions ever really are.]

[She smiles a little in response anyway. It's still nice to hear, regardless of what his grin means.]

[Sorry now he's laughing. Sweet isn't exactly something he gets called very often. But for the moment he'll take it.]

Is it? Well, how nice that you think so, deary. But it's true. I've known a pure-hearted princess or two, or something of that nature anyway.

[He knows your name, Rapunzel. And even if he does not think you're the same he's heard of, well. He's seen the similarities between worlds already here.]

[Rapunzel laughs too, but it's more the embarrassed kind.]

Oh, no no no, I'm not a... "pure-hearted princess" at all. I just... haven't been out much?

[He grins a bit.]

Though what do you mean you haven't been out much?
