[Peter couldn't really believe that he was actually turning on a device with mouse ears and intending to use it. Really, he had his dignity. Well. some dignity. A tiny shred of it.

He also couldn't believe that this thing hand been handed to him by...some other thing. A floating thing that kind of resembled a pig, sort of.

Warily, he eyed the communicator - and anyone who would be watching this broadcast.]

Someone please tell me that I'm hallucinating. Or at least what the hell is going on. But mostly, I'd really, really like to hear the words "None of this is real, you can stop worrying now", please.

No, I think after after managing to survive what happened to New York only to find myself here where there are talking ponies and people telling me that somehow the entire world was 'consumed by darkness', whatever that means, now is the perfect time to have a breakdown.

New York ...? [ a tilt of the head. ] Just what in tarnation happened in New York that's got ya'll so shaken up. oh, The Darkness. I heard 'bout that too. I'm worried about my family and friends, ...I been told they're out there somewhere, but there ain't much I can do. [ and she doesn't like that one bit! ] Now hold on there sugarcube, don't go breakin' down on me! D'ya need me to get ya'll something to eat or drink? I know this is a lot to have thrown at'cha...

There was a tsunami. Lots of people died. [Peter's still amazed that he wasn't one of them]

[And now he's going to stare at Applejack again. And not because she's a talking pony, but because she thinks that Peter is actually about to have a nervous breakdown. Okay, so Peter did go and say that, but that did not mean that he was going to, you know, do it]

Uh...I'm okay. Really. I'm not really going to have a nervous breakdown. I'd just like to.

...a tsunami. I'm really sorry t' hear that. [ and she's going to take off that hat and bow her head a minute. just a moment of silence. sets it back on her head. ] I think ya'll need t' make up yer mind. I really hope yer okay. [ skeptical aj is skeptical. ]

[Peter's actually just a bit touched by her moment of silence. She doesn't know anyone who died, but she's still respecting their passing] Thanks.

I'm fine, really. You don't have to worry.

[and now Peter is trying to reassure an orange talking pony. Oh dear God, what is his life...]

[ aj is just that sort of pony. ] It's the least I could do.

Well, explaining what the hell is going on here would be nice.

I don't think yer gon' like the explanation... and I can't say that it makes much sense. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it, if ya'll can believe it. But apparently out worlds have been swallowed up by somethin' called the Darkness and there are these creatures runnin' about called the Heartless. I don't know. It don't make a lick of sense t' me.

This 'Darkness' thing makes no sense at all! [Yup, Peter's already heard about that bit from the others, and he's already done plenty of ranting on that particular subject. Applejack has mentioned something new though]

What's 'the Heartless'? I've heard about the Darkness, but no one's mentioned that before.

It seems a bit silly, I admit, but it's a real big threat in this, here, place.

It's an evil little critter that ain't got no heart. [ hence the name. ] I think I been told that them things search fer people to take their hearts. Bit on the creepy side. [ nervous bit of laughter. ] ...and as far as what they look like. Black tar lookin' things with big ol' yell'r eyes.

But what is it? Does anyone even know?

[That description definitely makes Peter feel unsettled. He's used to fighting bad guys, but whatever these Heartless things are, the pony is right - they do sound 'creepy'.

...the pony. The talking pony. He's getting information from a talking pony, and Peter is not getting used to this anytime soon]

So, by 'critters with no heart', do you mean they literally they have no heart? Or are they just in the habit of stealing candy from babies?

I really ain't got no clue. I'm still tryin' to piece things together, ...'m really sorry, sugarcube.

[ aj intends to keep her heart inside her. she ain't lettin' no critter get it. ] Yep. No heart, and that's the reason they're lookin' fer us. I guess they tryin' to make up fer the fact that they ain't got one. I uh, I honestly wouldn' put it past 'em.

How exactly are they even alive without a heart?

I'm 'fraid I got no clue, but these critters manage t' do it.

Maybe they're like a jellyfish?

[Great, now Peter's imagining bizarre jellyfish people. Peter is so glad he didn't get bitten by a genetically modified jellyfish. Being Jellyfish-man would suck]

No. I don't think them things are like no little jellies. Maybe I can get my flyin' friend over here t' draw ya'll a picture. [ looks over her shoulder and to the moogle. and being part jellyfish would definitely suck. ]

A picture would be good, thanks.

[Especially since Peter just knows that he's going to end up fighting these things]

[ and aj digs into the pack on her back and pulls out a pen and paper. offers it to the moogle and asks it to draw a picture of a heartless. ]

[ the moogle scribbles a big black blob with yellow eyes onto the sheet and aj gives it a look over before showing it to peter. ]

I ain't no critic, but this ain't ...well it don't look too scary. From what ya'll were telling me I thought these things would be more frightening. [ nervously she shows the picture to peter. ]

Now don't go blamin' me on this one. I ain' never seen one a'for this. I'm sure they're, 'er, scarier in person.

y'Know, like ooOOoo.

'er maybe not. I... I don't know. But they're some sort of... threat. [ she's even having a hard time buying this now. ]

...That's it?

Seriously? That's it?

...Are you sure that the floating Teletubbies aren't just compelled to draw everything in a sickly-cute style? [Peter eyes one of the moogles floating near him. He wouldn't put it past the things, really]
