To the best of my knowledge, the dark creatures you refer to are called Heartless. The come from the Darkness, and they serve the Darkness.

As for the Heartless... we cannot destroy them. There are only a select few who can do that, but we are able to drive back their forces at the very least.

They're called Heartless. They're from the realm of darkness and serve the darkness, or which ever master is stronger at that moment.
