[Immediately following the tournament, Kain's mind is on one thing alone: Getting stronger. It doesn't matter how beaten up he is. The tournament has been a worthy challenge, but also a sign that he still has a long way to go by his own impossible standards.]

[Everyone should be happy anyway, because he actually is bothering to communicate where he's going this time.]

[That said, Kain shuffles along, trying to sneak away from the arena before anyone can stop him.]

[Kain indeed stops, not that he was moving very fast as it was. He should have known it wouldn't be so easy to get away... but perhaps Dany has something else in mind.]

Daenerys...?

[He winces at that touch, groaning under his breath a little.]

It's nothing I can't deal with...

[...Except, OW. He struggles to at least stay upright.]

Regaining your lost honor does not mean killing yourself. There is no honor in that — only cowardice.

You need to be tended to at least once. Please... I have no true skill for medicinal herbs. I do not trust mages. You do not need to stay here, but you cannot ignore your injuries.

[He tries to stand more upright and fails, he's much closer to just collapsing than he wants to admit.]

There's a mage I know... but... I don't want to trouble her.

[Even if he's well aware that Rosa will insist otherwise.]

Then you won't allow yourself to die now.

I'm not- [Ugh, a quiet but pain-filled gasp.] -I'm not in any danger of dying.

[To him magical healing is just a normal practice, after all. And despite wanting to keep up a tough guy front, he knows he really can't hang around long like this.]

Perhaps not at the moment, but if you do not give yourself time to heal properly, you could be.

[Kain hates to admit she's right about the first part, it's a lecture he's had people aim at him before, and likely will have again. He gasps a little in surprise at her strong insistence against magic.]

...but... Rosa's White Magic reduces the healing time considerably. It's a great help to our people...

My husband was murdered by a mage. She betrayed us, though I saved her life mere moments before.

[Kain staggers and very nearly loses balance entirely.]

...I'm sorry... I didn't know...

[He bows his head remorsefully.]

I've experienced magic used for both good and extreme ill. It's... neither entirely good nor evil...

[It's the fault of magic that he has this Darkness after all, though maybe it's more like that he had the Darkness all along and the magic gave it substance and form.]

[But for now, Kain attempts to look tough and take this like a man.]

...I'm fine right now, anyway...

No, what one does with it is what makes either good or evil. [ ] You can hardly stand on your own, Ser Kain. How will you even return to the Land of Dragons? Do you intend to crawl there?

No, I don't intend that...

[Sigh. He wants to go back out there right away, but he has a feeling that Dany will now insist otherwise.]

[Seeing then how upset she appears to be, Kain can't help but feel a little bit guilty. He's had enough lectures from Rosa to know how frustrated he makes most White Mages. So he at least behaves as she does that.]

Where do you wish to go? Do you wish me to leave you alone to your trials?

[ ]

...no... I don't wish you to leave...

[She's undoubtedly right.]

[ ]

Then trust my judgement. I will find a way for you to safely return to the Land of Dragons.

[Smart dragons! Kain does notice that, he's always paying attention to them even in the background of other things.]

[It's probably a sign of just how exhausted Kain is, that he can't keep up arguing too much. He still wants to insist that he's fine, and keep that manly pride intact... but he's not sure how much of that he can salvage now while leaning against her.]

I don't want to burden you... Are we going there now?

[ ]

Were you a burden to me, I would not be here still. Are you so eager to return that you would travel in this condition? I am not certain that is wise.

[Kain looks away, hating the thought of admitting it by agreeing. He's gotten so used to being on his own, and having to keep fighting and looking out for himself no matter what shape he's in. And then there's that ever present stubborn pride.]

You would rather we stayed here for now?

I would.

[Getting Kain to behave and look after himself at times like this really is a challenge. So yes. This is the best way to do it.]

...Then... I'll do as you would prefer, and remain here.

Thank you. I promise we will leave as soon as y— [ ] — as soon as I am recovered from the excitement of this bloodsport. There are places for rest near the coliseum of light. The Underdome offends me.

Then that's where we'll go.

[And the sooner the better, Kain knows from the way he feels he won't be up to moving around much longer. Though he'll try and push along for Dany's sake, to get to a place they can rest in.]

( yuna's getting pushed around in the crowd a little bit, what with all the commotion. but she's making her way through, obviously determined to search for familiar faces. she didn't think... she'd run into this one in particular, though. in fact, she's a little surprised she was able to pick him out so easily... )

Kain! ( uh oh. did she really just blurt that out loud? she's quickly resembling a deer in his headlights )

[Kain pauses in his attempt to get away on hearing that familiar voice.]

Yuna...?

( she comes to a full stop, breathing heavily as she looks you over ) Are you all right? You... were fighting, weren't you? ( intense look in your direction, mr. dragoon )

...I was in the tournament.

[Kain tries and fails to repress an expression of pain. That had taken a lot out of him.]

( she looks pretty serious for a moment here... and takes a half step back, her arms expanding outwards, and then coming forward to cast cura -- when she's done she still... seems a little concerned ) You look as though... you have a destination in mind. ( she looks down ) Be careful, all right?

[That at least restores much of his strength and heals many of his injuries, though he'll still have much need of rest.]

I will be... You shouldn't doubt that.

( and strangely as he said so... something inside of her just believed it )

Oh! And -- ( she digs around in the sleeves of her robes, producing three potions ) Please, take these, also! I insist. ( she's holding them towards him. it doesn't seem like no is an option, here... ) I'm not sure how long you'll be gone, but... ( and a nod ) I hope you find what it is you're looking for. ( she smiles )

[Kain wants to insist otherwise, that he doesn't need them and she should save them, but... there's still that weird feeling like he really ought to trust her. He can't shake the feeling that they've known each other somehow... even if it makes no sense.]

...Thank you, Yuna. I'll give it my best attempt. [A pause.] I'll be in the Land of Dragons for a while, but I might go elsewhere afterward.

( she just... nods. for some reason, this -- feels normal. seeing him go off on his own, for some purpose ) Well. Once you've finished... perhaps -- we could get together sometime. And then, maybe you could tell me about the things you've seen... ( timid smile )

[Normally, with people he doesn't know well, Kain wouldn't bother promising. But he still has that weird strong feeling of knowing Yuna somehow. Maybe something about her is just that friendly? He still doesn't understand it...]

I wouldn't mind. Inform me at any time when you'd like to meet for that.

( she smiles, and bows her head a little ) Then... I'll see you off with a smile! Come back soon, Kain.

[Kain nods.]
