Treasure Hunting!

[The golden glow from a shaft of sunlight is the only thing that can be seen through the keyhole until a tiny brown mouse wiggles her way inside. Who needs a key to open a treasure chest when you are small enough to get inside a different way?
She glances shyly from side to side before carefully making her way over to the only thing inside the wooden chest. There lying in the dust is a rolled up piece of parchment. ]


Locke? I don’t see any treasure… there is just this bit of…


[Mrs. Brisby tries to unroll the paper but is nearly swallowed up by it instead, the paper being more accustomed to its cylindrical form it is less than cooperative over the efforts to smooth it out again. ]


Aaa..aa~!


[Carefully stretching her feet over the paper and using her minuscule full weight on the object she is able to open the roll enough to make a few details out. ]



I… think it might be a map.

[Locke waits anxiously while Mrs. Brisby searches throughout the chest.

Being that he can't see through the keyhole, he has to pay attention to the screen.]

A map! Can you get it out of there?

[He could get used to having a mouse along, but his anxiousness is making him very antsy.]

[Looking at the paper… and then at the keyhole. The paper looked a little too big to fit through there but maybe it were rolled a little tighter. ]

I’ll let you know in a moment.

[Fortunately the paper readily agreed to be rolled up again and rolling it even tighter proved to be far easier than trying to unroll it had been. Moving the ungainly parchment from its resting place over to the keyhole was a chore. It was a heavy thing for a little mouse and the angle from the bottom of the chest to the keyhole was an awkward one to maneuver the map into. There was much struggling just to get even a tiny bit of the map to peek out through the keyhole but once it does she steps back. ]

I think part of it might be sticking out now. Can you see it?

[Locke is on his knees in front of the chest.]

I see it!

[He reaches out takes hold of the edge of the paper, pulling upon it.]

[Once Locke pulls the parchment free Mrs. Brisby herself wiggles her way back out of the keyhole. ]

It should be easier for you to unroll. [Tiptoes. ]

Is it really a map?

[Locke's excited, recognizing a treasure map for what it is.]

Mrs. Brisby!!

It is a map. I don't know to what, but does it matter?

[The glint of treasure hunting is rampant through his eyes.]

[She can’t help but smile at how excited a simple piece of paper has made Locke. ]

What do we do now? Read the map and try to find out watch it is trying to led us to?

[She is a little new to this treasure hunting business. ]

[Locke looks at her like she's grown another head.]

That's it. But first we need to see which world this will lead us to!

[Oh… she said something strange. Fidget. But, she steps close enough to try and make out some of the words written on the parchment. Maybe they would be a clue as to where this treasure was.]

The de-ep… ju- jungle…

[With more confidence now that she has sounded it out. ]

The deep jungle? Is that a world?

I've never been there, but I've seen it.

[He's not noticing her lack of confidence as his eyes are sparkling with treasure.]

Come on! We'll have to take the Gummi ship.

[At his order Mrs. Brisby scrambled up onto Locke’s shoulder, to hold onto his collar, before he could accidentally leave her behind in the dust of treasure hunting excitement. He could be a bit difficult to keep up with when he was feeling so energetic. ]

[He was anxious to get going that he almost left Mrs. Brisby behind. As soon as she hopped on his shoulder, he ran for the station.]

It won't take that long to get there.
