[2nd Petal]--Nightmare bandwagon

[The scene opens up to something pleasant in the least. A tiny child being cradled by her mother, who is humming a soft melody. Around them, a glass case exists with a small garden patch around them, and through it, one can see different types of machines, operating tables, and electronics.]

[It's clear this is a lab.]

[The woman, Iflana, lifts the child's head, speaking almost forcefully, as if to emphasize a point]

I'm getting you out of here, child. Before that.. horrible man does something awful. But if something happens to me, you run. You understand me?

[The child nods. How can she not when Mother takes that tone?]

[What happens next seems to happen all too fast. Some science interns bust in the room and begin trying to wrangle Iflana from the young Aerith's grasp. This was obviously not the plan from the amount of screaming and desperate grappling back for her child. The door shuts, separating the two.]

[Iflana continues trying to fight from behind an operating curtain. When it all falls silent, it's clear she failed. Aerith slams on the glass, calling for her, but it's muted.]

Damn. I thought that was going to work. Maybe she was too old. Try the girl.

[Apparently if there's any truth to this nightmare... many of us have lost parents in tragic ways. Ciel is relieved that his past was not revealed]

If there's a way out of there... you should flee. There's nothing you can do for her in there.

Perhaps there's an air duct large enough for you to crawl into?

Then start looking. It's difficult.. but if you allow yourself to shut down.. you won't survive.

[The little girl gasps, pale with horror.]

[Aerith peeks up--oh lordie, now she's hearing voices.]

W-where?

[Ami covers her mouth with her hands.]

It's too cruel!

[Luckily, it's just a nightmare, right? Momma at least got them into the slums before she passed.]

W-what should I do? [;w;]

There has to be a way out. And look for a rubber duck. They're the source of the illusions. If you can find it, you can stop this!

[Ducks? Illusions? This is getting so much stranger.]

The... duck can stop it?

There's a spell on them. They create the illusions.

[She seems to be thinking if she's seen a duck anywhere recently.]

How... big will it be? Just a small one?

That's right; just a normal bath toy.

[Her game face is ON man.]

I think I saw it... In the other science room...

Can you get there? It needs to be destroyed to end this illusion.

I-I think so. Maybe if I run... But what do I destroy it with?

A knife, maybe! Cut it apart!

O-okay! [She'll make a break for it. ;w; You're a great help!]

[This is her way of fighting: the information and strategy people need.]

Once you eliminate it, the visions should stop on their own. They're being created by the object. Keep in contact while you try.

[This little girl looks really familiar... but now wasn't the time to think of that.]

H-hey, no, don't look! It's just dream, just do as your mother says and see if there's a way out of there.

[You'll find out soon enough! When things aren't all... nightmare horrible.]

A-a dream? How... do you know? [Well, there certainly will be if the door opens.]

[:( This is just not a fun time for anyone.]

You have to, you can do it! Just try and find a rubber duck, that will be what gets you out of there.

[Welp, she seems to get up the bravery to run past two of the people who come in to take her.]

There apparently should be a duck that is the cause of the nightmare. If you destroy it your free.

Oh... [Staring a moment.]

... That sounds... silly... But okay.

Aerith, hang on! I'll be right there!

O-okay... [Yeah, can't help but trust that voice... It's one she knows, but is very far away, it seems.]

[In her dream world, she's being chased right now, but on the outside, where Zack is she's just shaking a bit, fingers knotted in her skirt. This is kinda scary, okay?]

[As for that duck, that blasted evil duck of despair, keep looking. It's floating evilly somewhere around.]

[OOC: ... This seems to ridiculous to ask, but lmao, should I control the duck for this epic... battle?]

Hey, it'll be okay. I'll help you, okay?

[Were she half in her right mind at the moment, she'd be much more comforted.]

[Ah, but there... in the shadows... Glowing red duck-eyes glow in an eerie shade. It floats out wearing a cloak. You know. One of those ridiculous Death cloaks people get around Halloween? Except it's... normal person size... So this little duck is moreso... floating in the hood.]

[BRING IT, PUPPY BOY. Most difficult thing about this duck fighting is obviously hitting it. Such a small target, you know. So it seems to narrowly miss that swing, BUT BEWARE.]

[BEWARE THE QUACK OF DOOM]

[Quistis watches for a brief moment with her hand over her mouth, but quickly composes herself.]

You must do as she says and run!

[Aerith looks up--where are these voices coming from?--but nods.]

Where do I go...?

Anywhere you can. As far away as you can get from that man.

This isn't real, it's a nightmare, but I think he can still hurt you!

[Oh, say no more smart lady. She makes a break for it as soon as she can and darts into an air duct, where she curls up, once she's in far enough.]

Wh-what do I do now?

Are you able to continue to move away from him while in the duct? It must have an exit on the other end.

In the meantime, do you remember where you were when you fell asleep? I believe all of these nightmares have to do with ducks that people have been stumbling upon... do you remember touching one at all?

I-I hope so. [She'll stay safe in there for now.]

I... must have been around Zack...

Then that's where the duck is, most likely. It will need to be destroyed, without anyone touching it.
