[Padmé has listened to every word the moogles have told her, and it's long after they've left that she finally turns to the oddly-shaped communicator. She's wounded, but she turned down the creatures' offers of help. Whatever pain these wounds might cause her hasn't registered to her; a very large part of her is numb.

She knows the dangers of making a public call for help; if the bounty hunter that's after her made it here as well, she's little more than a sitting target for him without Anakin. But if she doesn't do something, her fears will never be put to rest--or confirmed.

So when she turns on the communicator, she's wearing a grim expression.]

I am Padmé Amidala, a Senator representing the thirty-sixth regional state space of the Galactic Senate. The planet I was on-- [she pauses for hardly a beat, but she can't bring herself to say its name;] --met with misfortune. Though it seems this isn't uncommon, it's imperative that I'm contacted by any Jedi that might have survived.

[She won't name Anakin by name; she can't even attempt it.]

If there are any others that can hear me... Please, tell me what I can do to return that world, and any others in the galaxy. I'd do anything to help them.

[He scratches the back of his head. Was he so obvious?]

Yuna. Her name is Yuna.

[There were more important things for her to worry about, like getting Anakin back somehow, but enjoying the water again... It did sound nice.]

[He smiles cheerfully.]

You would like her. She's kind, graceful. She's a summoner. She's going to beat Sin. And she's kinda shy...but it's like...cool?

[It's a lot of information to take in quickly, but she does it well.]

A summoner?

Yeah, she summons these things called Aeons. They take on the appearance of these great, magical creatures.

All to defeat this being known as Sin?

[She knows there are beasts on many worlds, but somehow this sounds more grave.]

[He nods.]

Sin's tormented Spira for a thousand years. Because of it, people can't build very big cities, or know when the towns or villages they built will be destroyed. Know which members of their family are going to die next.

But all that changes-- I mean! It will change. Because of Yuna and me.

You actually plan to fight it?

[It worries her to think of such young people having to deal with so much. But he seems so determined, in all aspects of his life.]

That's admirable. Taking a stand for your world can be frightening, but there's nothing more fulfilling than fighting for the freedom of your people.

It's what Yuna wants to do. And I think I can kind of understand why.

It was, kind of. [He smiles widely.] You'd definitely get along with Yuna.

It's good of you to support her. I'm sure it means a lot.

[She smiles as well.]

I look forward to meeting her. It's nice to hear of level-headed young women; it's not all that common these days.

Yeah, tell me about it. Most of the girls I dated back in Zanarkand were more--anyway! Yeah, you're right.

[She really can't help but chuckle at that.]

Sometimes waiting for the right person is more better than trying your luck.

I think so too. I don't really regret trying my luck. I think it helps you like, realize who the right person is. Maybe.

It does do that. [She looks at him closely and then smiles.] You're actually a bit wise for your age.

A bit, huh? You know, I will be eighteen next year.

[She can't help laughing, and lifts a hand to cover her mouth afterward. That really wasn't supposed to escape.]

Eighteen? You're nearly an adult already!

[He crosses his arms over his chest, totally not trying to show off. Her laughter just encourages him to try harder.]

Is it really such a surprise? I mean, you said it yourself. How mature I am.

[This is all too familiar, but at least she remembers the conversation with Anakin fondly.]

You have a long way to go. [Straight from teasing into seriousness;] Just don't try to grow up too quickly.

[The serious tone startles Tidus. It was too late for that, wasn't it? Did he have a choice? He tries to smile, but it comes out sad.]
