Spell 3 - [video]

[The video switches on to show a plate of still-warm brownies. They look thick and soft, baked to the perfect point. The brownies move after a moment and the camera focuses on Soubi who, as it now can be seen, has been holding them. He smiles.]

Ritsuka, where are you? I have a gift for you and Yuiko-chan.

So there's where you've disappeared to all day. [Those did look pretty good...]

I'm at work. I think Yuiko's around here to... somewhere.

[He grins and waves at the camera as if nothing in the world could be amiss.]

Then you'll need a snack break after helping people out all day. I'll be there in ten minutes, Ritsuka!

[Smiles a little.]

Okay, I'll go find Yuiko then. No sense in looking for us both.

[He grins.]

I've already found her. I will be there in a moment. Do you like the corners, or the middle of the pan more?

Middle, please. The corners are too chewy.

[Why is he not surprised? Ritsuka always eats like an old man: the softer, the better. He wishes he could introduce him to those crunchy veggie snacks from the store that Kio used to like, just to see him make that disgusted face.

No, he's not feeling even the slightest pang of loneliness for his old friend. Not even a bit. He nods and turns off the feed.

About two minutes later, he appears down the street from Ritsuka. He waves cheerily and hurries over, the brownie pan still warm against the cloth in which it is wrapped.]

[Such gross foods would only be a waste of Soubi's munny and such carelessness would only get high fighter a verbal scolding.

Still, it had been awhile since he had anytime alone with Soubi. In fact they hadn't been alone since that awkward shift in time occurred a few weeks ago. Thinking back on that made him feel a little ill. That part of his life wasn't something he wanted anyone seeing. He almost wanted to apologize for allowing himself to be seen like that, but Soubi would only make fun him...

When he spots the tall figure at the end of the street he takes a breath to brace himself. Maybe it wasn't as bad as he thought...]

[Recognizes those names but not this face....]

Should cats be fed chocolate?

[Bitterness. What is that?]

[The smile is instantly replaced with a cool, unimpressed look.]

I think you know that they are not cats. These aren't for you.

[just seeing the baked goods brings a smile to her face, reminding her how Miss Lemon was teaching her to cook a variety of things]

It looks like they turned out great.

[His smile is replaced by a calm, neutral look obviously meant to say, "don't notice me."]

I think Ritsuka-kun is in Traverse Town somewhere.

[He grins and waves merrily.]

And where are you, Yuiko-chan? Let me send you some now.

I'm working right now at Traverse Town, I just finished helping someone find their way.

Excellent. Then I'll bring these over. Would you like ice cream on top?

Sh-Should I go and find Ritsuka-kun as well?

Wouldn't it melt though?

It won't melt if I put a scoop over the brownie just before you eat it. But you don't need to eat it a la mode if you do not want to. And you don't need to exert yourself; I already found Ritsuka.

I don't know if there is ice cream near where I am.

Oh! Where was Ritsuka-kun?

He is also in Traverse Town, welcoming a few new inhabitants. And not to worry about the ice cream; I have it here. Would you rather vanilla, or strawberry flavor?

...Strawberry, please. Oh! Where are you in Traverse Town, if you're still there?

I am walking toward where Ritsuka is. Would you like to meet us?

[Someone is watching you shyly.] Is that cake?

[He looks into the video feed coolly.]

Yes. It is for my master and his friends. No one else.

[Mortified] I knew that. I wasn't trying to take your food. I was just curious. I haven't seen those before. [They didn't really spoil her is Castle Oblivion.]

They're squares of brown mixture. They aren't much to see.

But even so, you worked hard on them. That makes them worth seeing. I hope I can learn how to cook things too soon so that I can make stuff for my friends.

Ask someone else, then.

[Over hears the conversation in the background and sighs in disappointment at his fighter.]

Soubi! Stop being rude. She wasn't asking you for anything, she was just complimenting you.

It's all right. I'm still learning how to relate to other people to. I think he just misunderstood.

But I will try to learn and cook for myself. Yuiko offered me some strawberries and I'm going to make cake. Is that the Yuiko you know?

[But before the stranger has even spoken, Soubi's entire demeanor has changed. His cool, haughty glare has melted into the warmest and friendliest of smiles.]

I am sorry, it was my mistake. Would you like a brownie in the meantime?

[Taken aback at his mood change. She's seen something like that put into play before and she's not sure she trusts it. Still, it's possible he just had a change of heart. She smiles politely.]

No, you made those for your friends. I don't want to take them. I plan to bake something later myself.

[But he continues to smile cheerfully.]

Then please allow me to give you baking guidance whenever you may need it.
