[The video feed clicks on to show a wild mess of green hair, a raised eyebrow, and a bright red eye squinting up at the camera. The communicator is obviously being held upside-down, but whoever's holding the thing doesn't seem to have realized it yet. A young, raspy voice pipes up from under the mess of hair, sounding tentative.]

So... others from world here, maybe? Can talk to others with magic box?

That's right! Here, just turn it around...

[The camera is covered by a furry Moogle paw before the video flips right side up with a lurch. The communicator is pulled back to show Gau crouched on the rooftop of one of the buildings in Traverse Town, his ragged ponytail and monster furs fluttering in the light breeze. He gives the camera a big, toothy grin and leans in waaay too close, and then shouts into the receiver. If he has to talk to his friends through this box, he'll have to speak as loud as he can, right? Otherwise, how will they be able to hear him? Gau-logic, folks. It makes sense, really!]

Hello! Cyan! Mr. Thou! If you there, say hello already! You too slow!

[ What a funny coincidence, Terra's magic box had been upside down when she first used it too. And there may be a familiar voice in response to that boisterous shout. ]

[It's a good thing Gau has quick reflexes, because he almost drops the box in surprise when Terra's face appears on the screen! The video jostles around for a few seconds while Gau fumbles with his grip on the device, but once he finally has it in both hands, he grins right into the camera. Oh man, he is SO HAPPY to see someone familiar!]

TERRA! Uwaaah! Terra here! Terra ok? Where is?

[Gau cocks his head to one side, momentarily confused. He brightens up as soon as the name clicks, though.]

Tra-verse? Yaoh! That what moogle say. [As if to verify this, Gau points the camera at a nearby moogle, who gives Terra a small wave.] Very dark here. What town Terra in?

Um. It's called ...Radiant Garden. [ ... how does one explain that Traverse Town and Radiant Garden were two separate worlds? ]

[Quistis can't help feeling sympathetic upon seeing this particular message; Gau strikes her as someone who really shouldn't have to be separated from his friends -- although from the look of him, he can survive perfectly well on his own, her immediate instinct is that nobody should have to.]
