◎ 001 ◎ Qui-Gon Jinn : Video / Traverse Town
You're right, my friend. This device is simple enough to use.
[There was a familiar face on the screen as a moogle floated not far from a head of brown and gray while the feed was adjusted. There was a very serious look about him. Maybe a little too calm for someone who just heard the ill news. The moogle was leading him somewhere. The inn, probably.]
Will you be okay, kupo! [The Jedi Knight paused in his walk and turned to the creature giving it a thoughtful look and responding after a short insignificant silence.]
Darkness has engulfed my world and many others, that's something I had never heard mentioned before. Even then, there is no need for haste: answers come at their own time. These mysteries will unravel themselves with time and patience. Thank you for your assistance, I leave you in peace.
[Before he could bow in respect to the strange creature, their attention was turned to the scurrying sounds of a strange furry creature making it's way up the street towards them. The moogle seemed unmoved and Jinn, sensing no threat, remained put. The creature, a furret that had escaped from a certain albino idiot, climbed up his leg and coat to nuzzle the old man's cheek without hesitation. Qui-Gon rose a brow.]
Hello there, new friend. Are you part of this welcoming committee as well?

[He just calls it 'the pest'. It works well enough for him.]
There are three districts in Traverse Town. This is the second district and it's where most of the shops are. Where we're going now is the third district, which is the living area mainly but the square is a good place to sit and think. You most likely arrived in the first district, which is where you can buy things like weapons, upgrades, and gummi ship parts.
[action]
Tell me, Obi-Wan, where exactly have you been staying? In these districts?
[action]
No, Master. I live on another planet. This place is just the best world for supplies. [A beat.] Which reminds me, I have some supplies for my ship here I'd like to pick up before we leave if you don't mind.
[He's not still doing repairs from that tiny little crash he may or may not have been involved in a couple days ago, nope.]
[action]
[And he's going to follow you curiously looking through shop windows and at strange creatures and people.]
[action]
Hello, Mogwin.
Obi-Wan! It's good to see you, kupo! I have your order in the back.
[The moogle disappears behind the counter and into a back room, returning shortly with a package that he sets on the counter. Obi-Wan pulls out a pouch of munny to pay for the parts.]
You're lucky your ship didn't take too much damage! [Oh no-- Obi-Wan tries to get him to stop talking with a very disapproving 'be quiet!' look but...] It might be good for my business, kupo, but don't crash your ship again!
[Obi-Wan bit back another dismayed groan. Not in front of his Master! He is an excellent pilot-- it's just that these blasted ships had very unreliable fuel!]
Thank you. I'll be more careful. Take care.
[And now he's going to grab that package and hurry outside. You heard nothing, Qui-Gon. He just wants to go back to his ship and head home!]
[action]
And what was that about, Obi-Wan?
[action]
The ships here run on impractical resources, Master. [He still makes a face as he says this, though.] It's not ordinary fuel. They're somehow run on smiles and happy thoughts, of all things.
[He's sure Qui-Gon can gather what caused the crash from that information.]
[action]
What has been clouding your mind?
[action]
There was an invasion by the darkness just before you arrived. A lot of people were hurt. I was disappointed that I hadn't been able to do more to protect them.
[It wasn't a lie, at least.]
[action]
Although it is our duty to protect the innocent from the unjust, we can not save everyone. Do not take the burdens of the world on your shoulders alone, padawan. Regrets darken the heart and cloud our judgment.
[action]
But what if you're the only one who could do something? And if you don't and you knew it would mean... very terrible things... what then?
[action]
Now, if a matter presents itself where the force offers you enlightenment and a chance, then there is no reason why you cannot prevent something. But what are these terrible things?
[action]
He doesn't relax entirely, but he's less on edge when he nods in understanding and turns back towards direction of the gummi ship docks.]
It was a hypothetical question, Master. Something that I've been mulling over for a while, that's all.
Are you ready to leave here?
[action]
[But he is going to keep a close watch on you, Obi-Wan.]
[action]
Here it is. [His pride and joy!] It's not all that different from a real ship aside from what they're made of. A little less complicated than ours, but the same concept. [He steps inside, setting the package in a secure spot. He can work on the ship later when he has time.] I can show you all that once you're settled, if you like.
[He settles to the pilot seat.] Any questions before we blast off? [In spite of himself, there's a little grin on his face when he looks over at Qui-Gon. He might be enjoying getting to teach for once a little much.]
[action]
You said this ships fuel is good thoughts and what else?
[action]
Let's go to the house.
[Giving him a choice? Nope. He lugs the package under one arm and already heads that way once they've disembarked.]
