[Video] Chess

[The heartless have been getting to quite a few people lately. It's hard to tell at first whether Ami is one of them. She's inside, seated at a small table and playing chess against herself. Masters of the game would note the arrangement of the board as a very famous end game maneuver. She's testing it again, noting its weaknesses and the ways to defend against it.

It's keeping her mind off the shadows, and the things that always seem to not-quite-be-there when she looks. It's keeping her mind off the doubts, the worries, the insecurities. But there's very little of her usual gentle smile despite the seeming calm. She has a perhaps not-so-incongruous question.]

What are the things you do to relax and unwind your mind?

It helps me to relax and focus my mind.

That's great. I guess everyone has something different. I make charms when I want to relax for example.

Charms? Do you mean, like the type sold at temples? Rei-chan sometimes sells them. We used to help her out occasionally.

[She shakes her head slightly, before she knelt down and picked up a sea shell.]

This is what I make my charms out of. I don't know if they are the same though.

I don't think I've seen that type of charm made from shell before. It looks very pretty, though.

Besides, they are really nice shells, don't you think?

You don't have to buy. I make them for friends for free.

I wouldn't feel right having asked for it, accepting it as a gift. It seems too demanding, doesn't it?

If it gives them protection, then I don't think it's demanding.

Well, all of those who are close to me. Which... I guess is a lot of people.

In the darkness. Only a handful of people have been saved here. It isn't enough.

Well, it isn't enough, but they will evetually find there way through.

How did you manage to get through?

[It's a good question. How do people get through it. She knows she can because well...it doesn't effect her at all, but she wonders about others and how it affects them.]

Yes; what coping mechanisms work? I want to know.

[She sighed, she asked the question of how the girl before her managed to get though the darkness and to Traverse Town, but apparently that was something she wasn't going to answer. Lets try this as best as one girl can do.]
