[Video / Radiant Garden Action ]

[The video was an accident. A button had been mistakenly hit when the Commander had reached up to the bed stand trying in vain to reach the small bottle of potion. He coughed raggedly from his couched position on the floor. He was far to weak to stand and the potion bottle was just out of reach…

His hand dropped away. It was just too far. This would be the end then. Coughing his last few breaths out on the rented floor of a Radiant Garden hotel. At least the pain would end. Everything would be over and he wouldn’t have to endear this pain any more. That almost sounded good.

A heartless danced closer just waiting for the man’s final defenses to drop. ]

A heartless?

[Eagle managed to choke the question out before collapsing in a coughing fit again. Why was a heartless here?]

[Poor Kaiba, having the surprise of Eagle's illness brought up in such a way. ]

One of my little coughing fits...
[He winces as he fails again to reach the potion on the table. There was clearly nothing 'little' about it. This was a very serious problem.]

[You become his closest friend and you start dying?]

That doesn't seem like a simple coughing fit. Where are you.

[Sorry Kaiba. Eagle is kind of secretive about these kinds of things even with good friends. ]

The hotel in Radiant Garden.

I'm going. Don't you dare tell me otherwise.

[The determined tone in Kaiba's voice stops him from continuing that protest. Telling him not to bother really wouldn't do any good.]

Alright.

[You're damned right you are letting him go to you.]

[He doesn't feel like arguing the point right now anyway. ^^ ]

[Cough. ]

At the hotel in Radiant Garden.

[Simple enough, hello dark corridor and hello hotel. He asks the inn-keeper for the room and then jogs up the stairs pounding the door.]

Is it open or do I have to kick it fown?

[Just a simple test of the doorknob would prove the door was not locked. Eagle never really saw the reason to lock it unless he was sleeping or something.

When Kaiba enters Eagle tries to smile at him like there is nothing in the world wrong. Of course this smile is a bit weaker than normal and the blood hacked up during his coughing fit still coats one palm that he tries to hide from his friend. That would be a bit disturbing to see.]

You made really good time.

I consider this an emergency. [He walked in and walked over towards Eagle looking around for a chair to use to sit beside the guy.]

Now what's really going on? I can pay the medical expenses if that's what you're worried about.

Money has never really been an issue.

[Oh Kaiba, it was very sweet of you to offer though. ]

I had access to the finest doctors on Autozam before I found myself here. It was just that this situation was a bit more than they could handle...

[This isn't something he likes to admit so Eagle does have to take a moment before actually coming out with it. ]

My condition is incurable in my world. I should have died from it already but some how the potions and a few of the magic spells the people of these worlds know have managed to keep me going.

What are you sick of? Maybe I can help.

[Sure, Kaiba didn't have his fancy corporation or his big blimp with the best doctor's his world could offer on him, but he had no boubt he could get something done.]

[A vague unnamed disease that causes Eagle to have coughing fits bad enough to hack up blood and give him moments of extreme weakness. Let's pretend it has a name and Eagle mentions what that is.]

It's alright, you don't have to do anything. If I can just hold on until Cephiro reappears it really won't matter anymore anyway.

Eagle, what are you sick of.

[See this face? Seto is not messing around.]

[Eagle certainly didn't want to upset Kaiba anymore than he already was. ]

A terminal illness that on Autozam has no treatment or cure.

[And again, this illness was never given a name in the series. It seems to be something like consumption but must be less treatable than that. ]

That doesn't tell me much. Where is that potion you were reaching for?

There isn't very much to tell. There really isn't very much that we know about this kind of illness.

[Eagle nodded back toward the dresser where the potion had been sitting but now the object was on the floor. It had been knocked off in Eagle's efforts to reach the darn thing but at least the jar hadn't broken. ]

[He moved over and picked up the potion, popping it open and passing it to Eagle.]

There's nothing I can't fix, I pride myself in that.

[Eagle gratefully took the potion and drank a little of it before saying anything in return. The potion worked fast and he could already feel the relief just that small amount had on his strained lungs. ]

There are some things that even a strong will can't change.

[Usually Eagle had the same kind of outlook. If there was something in his way he would take it out without fail, but about his illness he was always a little less hopeful. ]

You leave that to me and try not to die until I can figure out what you have. My world might be different than yours, after all.

Kaiba?

[You were actually going to try to... Eagle has to smile at that. You really were a very dear friend. ]

I couldn't die until I had completed my mission anyway.

[His way of saying he would fight the illness until he absolutely couldn't anymore. ]

Good, I'm not a doctor so it might take some time.

Even if you were it might still be a challenge.

A challenge just makes things more interesting.

I enjoy a challenge myself.
