[The camera's angle is a bit skewed and sideways. No one's in the picture, but then dainty fingers come into the picture, and the angle turns all weird again. It's clear that the video turns on in the middle of a conversation.]

-so you're not a kiwala? Really? You look a lot like one!

We're moogles for the last time, kupo! The communicator's for you to talk to people with!

Really? Lucca would freak over this!

[At that point, the moogle's all but forgotten as she's checking out the communicator. There's silence for the next few minutes, and then the video rights itself to show Marle, who looks a bit confused.]

Wait. Lucca? Crono? This has to be your fault!

[Have a very, very confused Lucca, perched on the steps below a flickering streetlight and surrounded by moogles.]

-Besides, I don't think we're in a different era. [She adjusts her glasses, shooing moogles away.]

The level of technology is mostly consistent with that of our Guardia, 1000AD. But things have changed more than they did in 400 years. If anything I think we've been moved through space, not time. And a far greater distance than the telepod could be responsible for.

...I think you lost me. How did me move through space?

Once I work it out, I'll be sure to let you know. A deep enough cut in time - not my fault - might be enough, the gates at the end of time were able to move us to different places. But there's nothing left that could make a big enough tear in the timeline-

[The moogles are trying to interrupt and explain the situation but Lucca's difficult to stop once she gets started.]

You're the first person I've seen around here. I asked these little guys about a guy with a sword and spiky hair but they just started talking about the weather. Not sure they're as smart as the monsters back home.

[She's totally trying to figure out what happened.]

Hey, you don't remember anything, do you? From just before you ended up here? Back when we first met, you told Crono about- [Pause, because sensitivity is not her strong point and she doesn't want to upset Marle.]

-about- you said it was dark. I- think I felt that, just before I arrived. Like some kind of quiet, cold, dark nightmare.

...and then I woke up surrounded by the big-nosed kilwalas. Which was a bit of a mood change.

[Marle's joking facade dropped instantly. She looked a bit... sad.]

I... I thought that was all a dream, to be honest.

...don't worry. We'll find him. And then we'll figure it out. Whatever it was, science has helped us overcome worse things.

[One of the moogles finally speaks up in the silence that follows.]

Hey! My big-nosed Kiwalas didn't say anything about darkness!

What is the darkness anyway?

...good question. Hey, little guy. Any plans to explain?

I really don't like the sound of that.

[That darkness? Totally reminds her of Lavos. Which is scary.]

...whole worlds? But we just-

-don't panic, Lucca, you can figure this out. We've fixed this once, right? We'll just find Crono, no matter what these little guys say about clouds, and fix everything again.

Hey, nose. See the girl on this screen? Think you can show me how to get to wherever she is?

Man, those big-nosed Kiwalas are nice when they want to be! [They'll never get it. never.]

[Heading into work his cat ear perk up when he hears the familiar frustrated voice of a moogle. It looks like the creature found another newcomer that had it flustered. Since it's his job to help the moogles, he decides to help by taking this one of it's furry little hands.]

Hello... Are you new here?

[He says shyly, with his cat ears resting down nervously against his head.]

Oh!

[Marle turned around quickly towards the new voice. Aww, he was a cute little kid!]

Yep, I'm new. The big-nosed Kiwalas were nice enough to let me know what was going on, I think.

[Big-nosed Kiwalas? Did she mean "koalas"? Well, that explained the very peeved look on the moogle's face. He moves a hand to his mouth to stifle a laugh.]

Ah, that's good. That part is always really hard to explain... I-I'm really sorry about your home.

[He says sympathetically.] If you have any questions about this place or.. that... [He points to the device... that was still recording her.]

I'll do my best to answer... Um, you also might want to turn it off because it's still recording you.

Turn it off?

[She looks down at the communicator. Clearly Technology isn't Marle's best subject.] Oh! This.

I've heard a little bit, but I'm still confused. There's the Darkness and it destroyed our worlds... but why?

Moogles look like kiwalas?

But, don't blame your friends. This is all to be blamed on darkness, unfortunately.

Well, Kiwalas are this creature we found when we were helping Ayla back in her time... and these creatures look like them! Except for the big noses... and the little red balls on their heads!

The darkness? [Marle frowned.] What do you know about it?

They must be pretty cute, then.

I only know what I've been told. The darkness devours worlds, and manifests in beings known as Heartless. Most of them appear as moving shadows, so try to avoid them. They can be dangerous.

Well, these little guys are cuter than them, that's for sure!

Heartless? [She really didn't like the sound of that.] Why is the Darkness doing this?

I apologize, we don't yet know why it's happening. But hopefully we will soon, and then we can work to reverse the effects.

It's okay! It's not your fault. We'll figure something out!
