[ as the mist dissipated masane had found herself collapsed just outside an alley in town. ] ...riko... [ it's but a whisper tumbling from her lips as she starts to come to. her head is spinning and the world around her is but a colorful blur. had things been that bad the other night ...? she swallowed hard and made an attempt to recall what had happened as she struggled to sit upright. her arms buckled under her, however, sending her straight back to the ground. she let out a small simper as she took another second to recollect herself. ]

[ after a few moments more she sat up. she still felt ill, but the feeling had started to subside. taking a deep breath masane called, once again, for her daughter. ] Riko!

[ this. she didn't have time for this! climbing to her feet masane staggered about. she ignored the moogle chirping in her ear and telling her to sit down because of the injuries she'd sustained. that stupid thing had to be a figment of her imagination besides. man oh man... she must have really done it this time. ]

...the hell is going on here?! [ and her grip on the communicator tightened. ] I want answers! Now! [ as she braced herself on a nearby wall her head dropped. tears pricked the ends of her eyes in spite of herself. she needed to find her daughter. she needed to find rihoko. ] ... please... i... i'm looking for somebody.

( ooc | now that the mist is gone masane is now back to normal. she is still a bit disoriented from it and therefore she's confused ~~and scared~~. and to reiterate, i would appreciate nobody making a connection between her and blade. ~~at least not yet.~~ she will deny it until she's blue in the face besides. )

[ now ain't that convenient. that's just where she is. ] Ok. I'll be there as soon as I can! [ and she won't arrive soon at all. though she's got the address she's going to get lost. about an hour later she's going to stumble into the station looking severely frustrated. ] Dante?

[Dante was actually confused on what her definition of 'soon' was but when she finally showed, he let her in.]

Welcome to the station. Had trouble finding the place?

[ hey. shutup! it's not her fault this place is hard to navigate. she only arrived a few days ago. cut her some slack! ] A little. [ but that's not important. takes a moment to size him up ~~now that the fog is gone.~~ dayum. ] ...so you'd mentioned something about picking a world. Which ones are available?

[ stares. the fuck. these names are weird. she's not sure which to pick. ] How about you assign me a location.

In town? [ one last look to the list. ] Sure. It's the only place I know right now. [ so that worked out. hands him back the papers and looks around the station. check it out while you can, dante. ] Is there a uniform, and do I get a weapon of some sort or am I to rely on my own... skills...

We can get you a weapon, we haven't decided on a uniform yet but you do get a badge. You'll get that once my second-in-command takes your information.

[ for right now she refrains from mentioning the blade. ] Ok. It all sounds good to me. [ sounds simple enough. gives a nod as she takes a step closer. ] Do you... [ and she hesitates as her gaze drops. ] Do you think that we'll find Riko?

If she shows up, beautiful, we'll find her. Believe it or not, there's a lot of good people out here.

I know. [ she's met a handful already. ] ...everybody I have met has been real helpful so far. [ and that's a first. she's not used to this. grabs dante and pulls him into a hug. ~~she's going to squish you.~~ ] I... I really can't thank you enough. [ for the job and the temporary room. ] I'll make it all up to you, I swear.

[A hug? He certainly wasn't expecting that. Dante liked hugs though, he didn't get enough of those so he wrapped his arms around her and reciprocated the affection.]

Chin up, babe. I try not to let people down. If I do, I always try to make up for it so you really do end up winning.

[ as she buries her face into his chest she tries to keep from crying. come on masane! you're a grown woman so start acting like it. she hadn't known how he'd react to the sudden hug, but she'd been unable to think of another way to adequately convey her gratitude. a small smile spread over her face as she started to draw back... but it was then that she felt his arms come up around her. she froze. she'd not been expecting that, but the smile grew just a mite. ] ...agreeing to help me would have been enough and you'd given me not only a place to stay, but also a job. [ takes a step back. ] ...you've don enough for me already and, like I said, I'll make all this back up to you.

Hey, don't worry about it. I'm sure you will but it's not a priority. I don't need that house at the moment so you just do your thing. [Please don't cry, Masane. He doesn't like girls that cry.]

[ no need to worry, she's not going to cry. she's got everything under control ~~for now~~. ] Okay. [ all she's doing is making it clear that you're not getting off the hook. ] I guess I'm going to need to get what little I have from the Inn. [ scratches her cheek. ] Not to be a pain, but, uh, mind helping me?

No problem. Might as well show you the house. I haven't been to it in a while myself. [He grabs his sword, sheaths it, and moves on.]

I appreciate it, thanks, ... [ and damn; man with a nice big sword. ~~cut it out masane!~~ side-eyes it as she waits for him to lead the way. ]

[He leads her out the door and towards the street.] During the day I'll be in here. At night, it's my commissioner, her name is Naoto. Cute girl. Takes her job really seriously. During the day she guards our only prison. We're trying to condition this building to be a prison but it's taking some time. She'll be the one you have to talk to.

[ nods and she follows alongside dante. ] Prison? [ lifts a brow. and just when she thought this place couldn't get any weirder. she could only imagine who, or what, was in that prison. ] I guess I'll have to wait until this evening then? ...well at least I can get settled in the meantime.

I hope there's no hobo living in there. I haven't checked up on the place. I have another house, I live there with a friend. I bought the police station.

[ glares at his back for all of a second. a hobo. ain't that reassuring... the place could be crawling with who knew what. masane shuddered and fell back a few paces. the inn was probably safe, cleaner, and ...shit. she ran a hand through her hair. she was going to have to learn to cook now that riko wasn't here. god, this was going to be disastrous. ] ...so is that why you're the Chief?

I'm the chief because I stepped up for the job. Funny story, never liked cops back home. I guess I'm making up for all the bad deeds I've done.

[ chuckles. ] Heh. It's a small world... same here. I never liked them either. [ and she will keep the details to herself, unless, of course, he asks. ]

What did they ever do to you?
