[After pretty much roaming around the town for several minutes, a clumsily looking man wearing a white and black hat on his head peers into the screen of his communicator. For a moment or two, he just stands there looking utterly shocked/awed/petrified/confused/derpy.]

Um...? Eh? Is this thing on?

[He leans in closer to the screen, to the point you can almost count how many teeth he has.]

I guess it is. Hm. This is a weird lookin' thing! Kinda reminds me of Bunny's phone.

[Backing away from the screen, the silly man flips the communicator upside down.]

I don't get this! Is it "Halloween" or something? No, no! Maybe it's April's Fool day. The folks of Sternbild really like holidays, but I don't remember them puttin' up any decorations during a terrorist attack.

This just...weird.

[He turns the communicator ninety degrees towards the right, making the angle of his picture seem lopsided.]

Can anyone hear me? Bunnnnnny! Blue Rose, Rock Bison....anyone?

I'm sorry to say that your world has been taken by the Darkness, you're lucky you made it where you are.

[Kotetsu nearly jumped once he heard someone answer him back.]

HUH?! W-Who are you? Answer me! What the heck is goin' on here? Whaddya mean by "darkness"? Is it night time already?

[Zexion stared at the communicator silently for a good half minute before managing to respond without calling the man on the other end an idiot.]

You may address me as Zexion. Now if you would give me your name? [Pause]

I meant exactly what I said, your world has been consumed by the Darkness. Also, if you see moving shadows possessing golden eyes, I would avoid coming into contact with them. They will attempt to steal your heart and effectively kill you, unless you have some means of defending yourself.

Umm, Zeek-sion?

[He totally tore up the pronunciation of this guy's name with no remorse.]

Ah, okay! Zeeksion! The name's Kotetsu. Kotetsu Kaburagi! Nice to meetcha.

[Kotetsu paused suddenly once "Zeeksion" started explaining that little story about the Darkness again.]

Eh?! You mean all of Sternbild was consumed by this thingie called the Darkness? [GASP] This was the Ouroboros' doing!

[Dead silence for a good minute followed that travesty and he wondered just what sort of moron he was speaking to.]

Kotetsu.

Darkness is not a thingie but a powerful force, [He paused deciding to try giving a comparison so as to perhaps pound the concept into the man's thick skull.] like a force of nature, if you hadn't escaped it, it would have snuffed you out just as it did your world. The moving shadows are called Heartless, they seek nothing more than to consume the hearts of creatures they come into contact with if the creature possesses a heart.

...Hello?

[He taps the communicator a few times.]

Did it die on me or something? Hello---

Ah! There you go, Zeekusion! I was worried I lost ya.

[Pleased to know his new found friend is still on the other end of the line, Kotetsu settles down a bit and listens. The Darkness is likened to a force of nature, huh? Much like lightning and thunder, Kotetsu thought.]

So...you mean that this darkness consumed everyone in my world?

[Oh no...]

[Finally! About time the idea finally sank into the man's head.]

Yes....did you not pay any attention to the moogles which gave you the device in the first place?

Others from your world might be fortunate enough to arrive later on, but unless they do, well... until something can be done to restore your world from it's grasp....[He'll leave that unsaid..surely he can get the idea one hopes.]

I just don't believe it! Sternbild couldn't possibly be swallowed up that easily with my friends around! They can't be defeated!

I'm sorry to break the news to you [No he's not.] but they stood no chance against it. It would be similar to you attempting to stand against a rushing wall of water that was over 100ft in height, it would blow you away and there would not be a single thing you could do to prevent it from doing so.

[A soft growl came from Kotetsu when Zekushion started flapping his lips more.]

You don't know my friends like I do. Bunny and the others would never let anything like that happen! They can and will defeat the Darkness!

[Now you're reminding him of a certain key-blade wielding brunette and his friend.]

Then your world will be restored in short order shouldn't it? Once that happens, then you can go back home.

[Uh oh! Kotetsu is losing steam here in this argument. If his friends already defeated the Darkness, then why is he still here?]

You'll see! My friends won't lose---

[Suddenly, Kotetsu just trailed off in mid sentence.]

The Darkness, if it's a real threat...then...

Then Kaede...she's...!

[Oh, good grief. As if things couldn't get any worse.]

I HAVE TO GO BACK! I have to go back for my daughter!!

How many times does one have to state that you can't go back to your world until it's been restored before it'll sink in? If you're fortunate, she'll end up like you, a refugee in this world...[and yeah he'll just leave the other option unspoken because one hope's you've already figured that one out.]

You don't understand! She's my daughter. I can't just sit here and wait for everything to pan out!

[If anything, ANYTHING, happened to Kaede; Kotetsu will never forgive himself. He promised Tomoe that he would take care of their daughter and while he did a sloppy job so far with that, Kotetsu truly does care for Kaede.]

I-I can't just stay here. [His voice is wavering now.] She's all I have left...

As much as you might desire to return...such is not possible right now. All you can do is try and help aid in the efforts others are doing to try and restore your worlds....

So quit your whining and get used to being here so you can go out and actually do something toward going back to that child you profess to care about so much.

[While any normal person would be angered by those harsh words, Kotetsu instead felt determined by them. This guy was right. If he has time to mope around worrying about his daughter, then he definitely has time to do something about the situation before him. For Kaede's sake if not his own, Kotetsu has to pull it together.]

[He doesn't sound so freaked out anymore.]

If there's even a slither of hope that the Darkness can be stopped, then I'm gonna take it! I don't know what I can do to help, but I won't go down without a fight.

[Kotetsu stared blankly at the girl for a few minutes, especially since he couldn't believe she NEVER heard of April Fool's Day.]

C'mon! How can you not know about that day? That's the day when everyone plays pranks on each other! It's a fun a day if ya doin' the prankin', but it's not so fun if you're being pranked.

It's kinda mean, sure. But it's more fun than mean! I play pranks on people but my jokes are hilarious.

This thing can be rather weird looking, but you'll get use to it.

[While he wasn't really feeling very cheerful (especially since he's very worried about his friends and family back at home), it was good to finally see a friendly smile. After dealing with Zexion, Kotetsu really needed sometime to recover.]

You know, never thought about what Kupo meant. I just thought it was rather cute sounding.

Just a sound, huh? Maybe it is just that, but I remember one of the moogles mumbling something about "Kupo Nuts".

I guess they could be flying bears but they have cat-like ears. Well, some of them do. Some of the moogles have bunny ears and seem to go hoppity-hop.
