001 ♫ Arrival

[He comes to himself still on the ground. The white uniform will need to be cleaned, he notes in passing. The small creatures nudging him bear no resemblence to youma; this place bears no resemblence to the Dark Kingdom. Where is he?

Where is Master Endymion? He struggles to a sitting position, despite the protests of moogles who think he's not ready to move yet. He has to. He raises his hands, as if playing a piano- and indeed, music starts to fill the air, perfect and clear, captured by the communicator as well. It is searching, seeking, desperate.

But after only a moment, he stops. His hands slump and then fall beside him. His eyes find the ground and his shoulders sag in defeat.]

My music cannot reach the master from here.

Zoisite!

[That name is a curse. But, so different than the Zoisite he knew. This one doesn’t cower when a blade is near his face. ]

What do you want?

[He seems to consider his answer a moment, thoughtfully. He is as fastidious as his counterpart, but without that vanity and spite. He arrives at the simple truth.]

I wished to see you, when I learned that it was you. You do not resemble Nephrite as I know him. How it this possible?

[Just to see him? Very strange… But, Zoisite might notice that sword arm relaxes just a bit. If that was true ’Zoisite’ wouldn’t be a threat to him. ]

You must be from the other world Kunzite talked about. The one where everything is a little different.

[He turns around one of the support columns, as though wrapped up in his own thoughts.]

If that is true, then I wish to know about your world.

[The action is watched carefully and the sword does not disappear from Nephrite’s hand. ]

Does it matter anymore? That world has been lost to the Darkness.

[That seems to upset him far more than the sword had. He speaks more intently as he rounds on Nephrite, facing him directly now.]

No! We are still the ones who protect that planet. We cannot simply allow it to be lost.

I don’t care if its lost or not. I have no reason to want to return there.

[The reaction was interesting though. ]

When did you start caring about the Earth instead of the Dark Kingdom and your own power?

[Oh, he has Zoisite's attention now. He does not bother with even a twinge of guilt for his actions back during that time. Instead, he evangelizes his fellow shitennou immediately.]

I came to care again... when I regained my memories of the past and of the master.

[Nephrite, you'd better really, really like those two words 'master' and 'remember'. You're going to hear them a lot.]

That again…

[Who hasn’t tried to tell Nephrite about the past? By now nearly every Senshi had mentioned it once or at least it felt that way to him. ]

If you don’t have anything worthwhile to say, leave.

[He does not leave.]

No. This is the most worthwhile. You, too, must come to remember your true self.

I said leave!

[Nephrite does still have a bit of a temper. ]

I don’t care about your past! It has nothing to do with me anyway!

[He still doesn't leave.]

Nephrite. Do not turn your back on your chance to be free. When you remember, you will understand.

I can help you to remember.

I don’t need to remember anything, our worlds are not the same With the Dark Kingdom gone I am already free!

[If you won’t leave, he will. The former General starts making his way cautiously to the stairs. ]

[With the Dark Kingdom gone...?]

Nephrite!

[He calls out wildly, to at least stop Nephrite so he can hear this explanation. He hurries towards the stairs.]

What do you mean by those words? If Beryl and the Dark Kingdom are gone, why are you not at the master's side already?

[Nephrite will stop to explain if only because that plea had sounded so despite to him. Compassion appears again. ]

The Dark Kingdom would have been taken by the Darkness when the Earth was. We don’t have to worry about that here… as for Master I don’t know who you are talking about. I have decided to work for myself.

I am speaking of Master Endymion. [Even as he says it, he knows the name alone won't jog memories that lay so buried.]

I will show him to you.

[Those stairs, he will just be taking those now.

I said already I didn’t care about your Master. Why don’t you run back to him if you are so concerned about it?

Because. I also cannot leave you ignorant of your own true self.

[Right behind you.]

[!! And there is that sword again, as Nephrite hastily turns to face him and lifts the weapon up to make certain this Zoisite maintains his distance. ]

That’s enough! Get out of my way!

[He is no fool to impale himself on that blade; but again, it seems to hold no fear for him. He is used to threats and worse. Much worse, if he thinks of what he suffered at Beryl's hands just before arriving here.]

Nephrite. Why do you fear this?

[You guessed it: not getting out of the way.]

[Fine then… If he wouldn’t leave willingly. ]

I call upon the power of the stars…

[The very set of stars Ami had helped him find. ]

I call upon Orion the Hunter. Come forth!

[Here is a little surprise for you Zoisite. A constellation come down from the sky and materializing into a Earthy form. He is taller than the both of them, with a sword and full quiver of arrows, the proper hunter ready to follow his masters command.]

Heh. [Arrogant smirk in full force. ] Now are you going to leave or… should I have Orion here kill you?

[A youma. Since when did they turn youma on each other? (If only he knew.) There is still no fear, but his eyes betray a certain heaviness. A sadness.

He shakes his head.]

This is wrong.

Fine.

[To the youma.

Destroy him!

[You might have wanted to take the chance to leave while you could Zoisite. The large youma doesn’t hesitate to draw his bow and launch several fiery ‘shooting star’ type arrows in his direction. ]

[As a shitennou, he had better be a match for a youma. What might be more surprising than his skill is the way he fights, his methods. He has no difficulty attacking a youma, and his curved dagger springs into his hand with a mere thought, but instead of striking with it, he stands his ground. He focuses his mind, and wills the creature's body to be stilled.]

[The creature does slow… and even begins to fade back up into the stars since the person controlling him had disappeared. This was after all only a distraction technique designed to slow Zoisite up long enough for Nephrite to teleport himself away. If the other shitennou had actually been killed? All the better really, but Nephrite hadn’t been expecting it to do any more than what it did. ]
