[After the moogle has shown Luke around, he's taken a few minutes before turning the communicator on. The Darkness had done something to the timelines of other worlds, apparently. It was a great temptation for Luke to just call out for his father and see when he had come from. Maybe it was early enough, maybe he could save him. Really save him. But what would the far-reaching consequences of that action be? Would it only make things worse somehow?]

My name is Luke. I am a Jedi Knight with the Alliance. If anyone else survived the destruction of the forest moon, please check in with me.

[He pauses.

Father... Obi-wan...

Do either of them hear? Do either of them even know him?]

And if anyone can tell me anything more about the Darkness and this place, I would appreciate it.

I'm glad. Anakin... He needs more people who are on his side. The Jedi believe Anakin is the chosen one, foretold in a prophecy. It's put a lot of pressure on Anakin; he tries so hard to live up to their expectations and internalizes every slip up as a great failure.

[She sighs softly.] I worry about him...

[But before she can immerse herself in that unsettling feeling, she looks back at him curiously.]

Are you a cousin? Or, perhaps, Owen's boy?

What prophecy? [And more things no one ever told him.]

I understand. He'll have to learn to not internalize, I think. He needs to... [He trails off. He'll help Anakin. Then Vader will never exist, right? Right?]

No, I'm... [He hesitates again. He doesn't know this woman beyond this one conversation, but he feels as though it's important to tell her. He looks at the device and, after a few moments, figures out how to put a filter on.] He's my father.

I'm no Jedi, but I believe it was something about bringing balance to the Force. It's been a long time since I've heard it. He expects a lot of himself. I really want to help him.

[But that feeling, and everything else she's thinking, is completely thrown out of her mind when he admits that relation. She's visibly surprised, even though she tries not to be.]

I'm sorry, I think I misunderstood. Was he your Master? Anakin spoke of Obi-Wan similarly...

[He closes his eyes. Hearing that is like being punched. His father was supposed to... And the thought comes unbidden that Anakin did, from a certain point of view. Wiping out both sides certainly is a balance.

But it couldn't have meant that. It takes effort, but he forces the thought away. It can be changed. It will be changed.

He manages to look at her again when she says that about Obi-wan. That one is also physically painful to hear. He was, after all, there when Obi-Wan died.

It takes him a few minutes to get his emotions under control. When he does, he sounds calm and a bit detached.] No, Padmé, I mean he is my father. Obi-Wan taught me for a short while, Master Yoda taught me for a bit longer. But Anakin Skywalker is my father.

[She watches him closely all the while, but when he says that so certainly she's taken aback. He does look like Anakin, but Anakin is... He's a Jedi. What of his vows to the Order? What of their decision not to live a secret life?]

...And your mother?

I never knew her, and Uncle Owen wouldn't tell me anything about her. He... barely spoke of my father.

The only thing I know about my mother is that she was very kind, very beautiful, but sad.

[That's all very strange, and it makes her feel uneasy. Starkiller had told her that there were few Jedi left alive, but Luke said that Anakin had been. Why, then, was he not with his child? Why wasn't his family speaking of him? Why hadn't Obi-Wan said anything, if Obi-Wan had taught Luke?

She's scared to ask, but she needs to. She has to know.]

Why? What happened?

There were... complications. [Anakin becoming Darth Vader and killing the Jedi, Luke and Leia needing to be hidden away. Those are some serious complications.]

I don't.... suppose you would know you my father would have been close enough to... who might have been my mother. If you've known him since you were children...

What kind of complications? No matter what the future holds, I need to know what happens to Anakin.

[If she only knew what she was asking to learn...]

I... [That question bothers her. She starts to speak several times, but stops every attempt. She has an idea, one she knows she shouldn't hope for but does. At the same time, she doesn't know how she'll handle it if she isn't his mother.

She had been letting Anakin slowly take over her heart and soul... She trusted him... But she had denied him.]

No. [She looks away; don't the Jedi have ways of knowing when you're lying?] I'm not around Anakin as much as you might think. As a Jedi, he travels the galaxy. It could be anyone... I'm sorry.

Anakin Skywalker... is Darth Vader. To keep us safe from him and from his Master, my sister and I were hidden. I think... he must have believed that whatever happened to my mother happened to me, as well. He didn't know she was pregnant with twins.

[He can see that she's bothered by the question and how she keeps starting and stopping. And when she looks away, he gets the feeling she might know something more than what she's telling him.] You have some idea, don't you?

That's not true. It can't be true. Anakin isn't that kind of person. He wouldn't hurt other people. He wouldn't fall to the Dark Side. Not Anakin.

[She's clearly defensive, and she simply cannot believe it. Not Anakin.]

I have a feeling, but, logically, it's not possible.

I don't know what happened to him, but if it's to be changed, we can't shy away from it. That's the only way to stop it from happening.

[He keeps his voice soft and gentle. He had a similar reaction to finding out his father was that monster.]

My father is a good man. Knowing I was alive created a conflict within him. He turned back from the Dark Side and saved my life in doing so.

[He nods.] Tell me.

Of course he's a good man. That's why he can't be... that person. He just can't.

[And then the thought strikes, and she looks at him desperately.] Please, don't tell him. Knowing he might do those things... [How would he react?] He mustn't know.

[And then she shakes her head.] I... can't. It wouldn't be fair to you to get your hopes up when it might not be true.

I haven't. [But he's still going to find some way to keep it from happening.]

Even if it's not who you're thinking of, it would give me a starting point. Please?

Keep it that way. If he has to be told, I'd like to be there.

[She can't guarantee how he'll react, so it's best if she's there to keep him... grounded.

After a long moment she sighs and relents. He's just a stubborn as Anakin, too. ~~Just as stubborn as she is, really.~~]

Me. [She purses her lips for a moment before she goes on.] You have to understand. I care about Anakin very much, but our lives are both set on separate paths. He's a Jedi... I want more for him.

[He nods. He knows Anakin has to be told eventually. And he'll make certain she's there for it.]

I see. I wondered... if you were related to her somehow. My sister looks a lot like you. [He smiles a little.] Paths change. You might not realize it until you've come too far to turn back, but they do it. And it's not always for the worse.

Your sister? [So there were two? And the promise of a little girl in her future, like Pooja and Ryoo...]

...Perhaps they do. [She's already aware. Spending so much time with Anakin, and then being torn apart from him for a month had certainly made her start to change her mind.] I need time to speak to Anakin, but then I'd like to meet you...if you're willing.

Yes. We're twins. [It makes him smile a little to think of her, even if she wasn't here.]

Of course. Where can I meet you?
