[Well well, this little communicator was invaluable. Oh yes, people shared and shared and shared. And Rumpelstiltskin listened. He's only just arrived, but he that hasn't stopped him from paying attention, from learning how this little thing worked. Now though, he flips his own on to share a bit himself. The video shows his strange smiling face, but before he manages to speak, he laughs, all at once, a sudden explosion of a trilling little sound.] This is terribly interesting, isn't it?

Tell me, has anyone else noticed... [A little pause here and he wiggles his fingers.] familiar faces that aren't actually familiar here? I just don't know what to make of it. [This was a lie. He'd already decided to use it to his advantage. Oh there were ways to do this; he was sure of it. He was still working it through though.]

But since we're speaking of familiarity, let me introduce myself. [A toothy grin that was largely not as reassuring as he might have hoped.] My name is Rumpelstiltskin and I am... a purveyor of necessities and fondest desires and useful magics. If you find yourself in need of the unfindable, well, I humbly... [He ducks his head in a bit of a mock bow, undermined a bit by another laugh.] offer my services. Of course, bear in mind, all things, especially magical, have their price. One can't do business for nothing!

Is she really charming...? [He looks a little skeptical.] Hopefully this Queen won't end up here too. We already have enough people who can't stand to leave people happy, we don't need another. Those are some pretty weird names though, even for another world.

I like Destiny Islands, but it might be too boring for you. If you're so good at finding things, you shouldn't have any trouble.

[He laughs, clapping his hands together.] Most of the time, yes. There was one small incident... [A little wave of his hand.] But a simple bit of true love's kiss and she was back to herself.

But yes, this world will be better off without the Queen here. She's so difficult to handle.

Strange names? [Well then, he lifts an eyebrow.] And what is your name, deary?

[He stares, unsure of whether or not he should laugh.] True love's kiss? Are you serious?

Let's hope it stays that way.

To me. I'm sure it's normal for you. [He makes a face and shrugs.] It's Tidus.

Oh yes, very serious. [He grins a slow, amused grin.] No magic can really compete with true love in terms of power or danger.

Tidus. Well, it's a pleasure meeting you, Tidus.

I won't argue with that, but a kiss? That just doesn't sound like it would be enough.

[He scratches the back of his head, as he normally does when uncomfortable.] Uh...nice meeting you too.

Oh it's more than enough. [He nods to himself, considering.]

Let's see I've heard of it reviving the almost-dead, restoring the ability to love to one who'd accidentally forgotten how with a certain potion. I've seen it nearly shatter an old, powerful curse and turn a monster back into a man.

They must have a different power on your world. Kisses can be powerful, they can restore bravery and show someone a lot of things, but I've never heard of that. It would be nice if it were that simple everywhere.

Quite likely, deary. [A shrug of his shoulders and another sudden, trilling laugh.] Magic is a powerful thing in the world I'm from, and these things I'm discussing are just that, a sort of magic.

Magic is pretty powerful. What about your magic?

Mine? It does what I need it to do. [He adds the next part, giddy really.] Back home, most would call it unparalleled.

You were that powerful back home?

I was. But I paid my price for it. All magic has its price. [A shrug of his shoulders and a hollow little laugh.]

Where I'm from, it's energy. If you use too much magic you get tired.

[A bit of a nod, remarkably thoughtful.] That makes sense in a way.

That isn't a concern for me. Not in any of my everyday practices, at least.

It's remarkable how much can be done even without magic, after all.

I've never really thought of it that much, but some things can only be done with magic.

True, true. Magic has its uses. And as I said before, its costs! All a matter of what is truly important.

Like protecting people. That's important.

Protecting, hmm? [He peers at the funny little screen.] So you're one of those sorts.

It's a noble goal, of course!

I don't know if I am. I'm sure many people have someone they want to protect.

[Rumpelstiltskin laughs at that.] Many people? Perhaps! Many people are only concerned with themselves, however.

[He nods thoughtfully, glancing down.] I think there less people like that than there appear to be.

Do you? Hmm. I think they're much more selfish than they let on. People like to pretend.

You can be selfish and still care about other people. I mean, isn't that kind of selfish anyway?

Oh yes, caring can be quite selfish. And the things you think you love get hurt and destroyed.

That's why we should keep protecting them. So that they don't get hurt too much and are never destroyed.
