[Well well, this little communicator was invaluable. Oh yes, people shared and shared and shared. And Rumpelstiltskin listened. He's only just arrived, but he that hasn't stopped him from paying attention, from learning how this little thing worked. Now though, he flips his own on to share a bit himself. The video shows his strange smiling face, but before he manages to speak, he laughs, all at once, a sudden explosion of a trilling little sound.] This is terribly interesting, isn't it?

Tell me, has anyone else noticed... [A little pause here and he wiggles his fingers.] familiar faces that aren't actually familiar here? I just don't know what to make of it. [This was a lie. He'd already decided to use it to his advantage. Oh there were ways to do this; he was sure of it. He was still working it through though.]

But since we're speaking of familiarity, let me introduce myself. [A toothy grin that was largely not as reassuring as he might have hoped.] My name is Rumpelstiltskin and I am... a purveyor of necessities and fondest desires and useful magics. If you find yourself in need of the unfindable, well, I humbly... [He ducks his head in a bit of a mock bow, undermined a bit by another laugh.] offer my services. Of course, bear in mind, all things, especially magical, have their price. One can't do business for nothing!

[Oh but he had to offer upon arrival. If he didn't start crafting a reputation in this place, establish his power and his relationships, then he would be at a disadvantage. And Rumpelstiltskin had learned long ago to loathe being at a disadvantage.]

Back home it tends to be silly things. An heir to a kingdom. A replacement when that heir goes and gets himself stabbed by a barbarian. A potion to forget heartbreak, a trip to a beautiful ball and a road out of a life of drudgery and suffering. Protection. So many different things!

[Those do sound like petty and unnecessary things.]

And what sort of things would you offer in this realm?

[It was always a fascinating matter, finding out what it was people thought they couldn't live with or without.]

Whatever may be needed. It may take me a bit longer than usual, while I find my bearings. And of course, my potions will need to be remade, which is rather inconvenient.

Potions? Anything can be provided through potions?

No, certainly not. But they're a fairly useful tool. Some things require other magic. [A single finger lifts in a little flourish.] Others require no magic whatsoever!

[Pause and ponder...]

And what benefit do you gain from this?

That depends on the deal and the person making it. I negotiate my price. Sometimes a favor in return. Sometimes a trinket. Sometimes information. [He smiles a wide, toothy grin.] Whatever is the most useful at the time.

["Whatever is useful at the time." That doesn't seem like a very substantial way to live. Something about this whole "business" doesn't bode well at all.]

Well, I'm afraid I have no desires, but I'll wish you luck in your endeavors.

[Though he actually does have a desire or two, but nothing he would rely on any magic or a random stranger to fulfill.]

Hmm? Don't sound so skeptical. My prices are precious and often irreplaceable, after all! I don't need for money. I make my own gold. Money is so boring anyway.

Everyone has desires, deary. Only a fool believes otherwise. But if you're content chasing after them you're own way, I wish you the very best, of course.

If you want the truth, my only wish is to restore the worlds as they were before the darkness devoured everything. However, I don't believe there is any magic that can perform so great a miracle.

That is quite the wish. [He shrugs his shoulders.]

Dead is dead, where I am from. So if these devoured worlds are dead... [A oh so sad little shake of his head before he's grinning.] Well, then there's no help for it.

They are not dead. If people can still be brought here from the darkness, then the worlds can be restored as well. That is my belief.

Well then, there's hope, isn't there? How thrilling to know! [Thrilling. There's no a single soul left alive in the world he's from that he much cares to see again. That he knows of.]

Indeed. So you will primarily focus on running your business here?

That's right, deary. If this is the place I have to live while I'm here, I may as well, well, live.

Mhm, that is true, that we have to fend for ourselves, all while trying to battle the darkness. It is not an easy feat.

I would imagine not. This idea of darkness in such a tangible form is foreign to me.

I don't suppose you could tell me more of it?

Hmm...I'm afraid I do not know much of the darkness...not as much as I would like do. But the prominent thing to be wary of is the Heartless, black creatures of varying shapes and sizes, that will try to steal your heart. They run amok in various worlds here, so I do hope you have some means of self-defense.

[Here he laughs again, a sharp, trilling sound.] Oh, I'm quite capable of defending myself!

But beyond that, I don't have much of a heart to begin with, so I rather doubt it'll draw much interest.

Hmm...but regardless, a heart is a heart. I highly doubt that the Heartless would discriminate.

Perhaps! Well, I'm fairly possessive of things that are mind, so I won't be handing my heart over anyway!

These heartless seem like strange little creatures. Monsters I've never seen before.

I hadn't seen such creatures before either. Very few of us have. But from my understanding, they are formed from the darkness itself, so regardless of their size, they are not to be taken lightly.

[Another laugh.] Oh yes, that's right. Size isn't what matters! {Oh he's gone and amused himself. This happens all the time.]

You're right though. Absolutely, yes. Something to be watched out for.
