He's only just arrived, but he that hasn't stopped him from paying attention, from learning how this little thing worked. Now though, he flips his own on to share a bit himself. The video shows his strange smiling face, but before he manages to speak, he laughs, all at once, a sudden explosion of a trilling little sound.] This is terribly interesting, isn't it?

Tell me, has anyone else noticed... [A little pause here and he wiggles his fingers.] familiar faces that aren't actually familiar here? I just don't know what to make of it. [This was a lie. He'd already decided to use it to his advantage. Oh there were ways to do this; he was sure of it. He was still working it through though.]

But since we're speaking of familiarity, let me introduce myself. [A toothy grin that was largely not as reassuring as he might have hoped.] My name is Rumpelstiltskin and I am... a purveyor of necessities and fondest desires and useful magics. If you find yourself in need of the unfindable, well, I humbly... [He ducks his head in a bit of a mock bow, undermined a bit by another laugh.] offer my services. Of course, bear in mind, all things, especially magical, have their price. One can't do business for nothing!

[He thinks of himself, and his fellow shitennou. Although she no longer has sway over his mind, he cannot act wholly against her without consequences. It is different, perhaps.]

Freedom is a lovely thing. But then, we're all only so free. But at least we should be free to choose the binds we bear.

I choose to be bound to my master and no one else. [Endymion... Endymion is worth the price, the master who came to save them, who seemed to think their lives were so important even next to his own, when they'd been trained from the past to think of his above all.]

I've chosen my own as well, quite selectively.

[He's quiet a moment at that.] There's little to understand, really.

I have something of a particular goal in mind, and this world or another, well, I will accomplish it. I'm the driven sort.

What is this goal?

To... correct a mistake that I made. [He hesitates a moment.] Deals are meant to be kept, after all. And there is only one I haven't. I mean to see that fixed.

There are also mistakes in my world which must be corrected, or they will become a danger to the master.

[That word and that concern seem to be on his lips an awful lot.]

A much beloved master? [A long, quiet moment.] My allegiances are not to a master, though to one whom I should have followed much more closely.

[More closely? And yet, he doubts the other man means the queen he spoke of. Then, who?]

Who would be above that?

[How has he gotten himself talking about this? There's something defensive rising in him at the questions.]

A son.

Familial loyalty, then. Is that what you treasure above all?

No. He is what I treasure above all.

[He summons up a smile, strained.] Simpler that way, you see.

To protect him and him alone?

Yes. Something I've failed in. [Difficult to admit.]

This place has brought people from many worlds and lives. Perhaps he will arrive here. If it happens, you must stay by him if you regret the past.

[That idea. The idea of Bae here. It has something in him rushing. Though it's a painful rush.] Perhaps.

There is no one in these realms who can do it at will. [This is both a simple fact, and a caution not to believe those who claim otherwise.]

However, one of my comrades was brought here to safety some time ago, and others I knew in my world are also here. There are possibilities.

Well, possibilities are a start. [He nods at that.] And I don't intend on giving up my plans or goals just because of a... [A stifled giggle.] minor detour.

We are both alike in that. Persistent.

So it would seem! How nice to find some common ground with new acquaintances.
