[Several days after his previous feed, Kotetsu appears again but this time with a smile on his face and the historical scenery of Port Royal as his backdrop. Somewhere between then and now, Kotetsu set voyage to Port Royal and let's just say that was a rather interesting ride.]

Those Gummi Ships are somethin' else, aren't they? [He chuckled lightly.] Happy thoughts? Really? If they really run on 'happy thoughts', then I'm goin' to go sailin' around the galaxy in no time!

[His laughter dies down a bit, but he's still all smiles.]

So, I got a question for some of you new folks. I know I'm not the only one here wanderin' all over the place, so I was wonderin' if anyone would want to come here to Port Royal and do some exploring.

[Kotetsu's grin widens.]

Any takers? C'mon, guys! Don't leave me hangin'. I'm sure one of you guys feel up for the adventure.

[Prepared as he was for the Heartless slamming into him, the sudden blur of Kotetsu appearing to knock the creature away was something of a surprise. After the first moment of shock, however, he composed himself and looked around.]

That seems to be all for the moment.

Your power has a limit of five minutes?

[Lightly cracking his knuckles as he felt the last of his power leave him, Kotetsu glanced over at Golbez with a solemn gaze.]

That's the gist of it. My powers only last for five seconds but recharge in just about an hour.

[He sighed.]

But don't worry. I can handle these critters even without my powers.

[While he certainly became a better fighter as of recent, Kotetsu still lacked the same finesse as his partner, Barnaby. Barnaby is definitely the better fighter of the two, but Kotetsu has a few tricks under his sleeves.]

If you're worried, don't be. I can still protect you.

Unfortunate. Few battles can be managed in such a fashion. To be able to manage without them is wise.

I am perfectly capable of defending myself. Nor does my power have the time limit of yours.

[Don't forget that he's huge and wearing full armor, Kotetsu.]

[O-Ouch! Is Golbez trying to make him feel better or worse here? Kotetsu feels a tad sheepish now.]

...anou, I guess we might be relying on your powers for a little bit.

[Sighing for the second time, Kotetsu turned to face the old fort that sat upon the cliff nearby.]

Let's get going!

[It's a mystery. Just like so many of the other things Golbez does, really.

But he nods, and starts forward toward the castle once more.]

What is a NEXT, that you would mistake me for one?

[Still keeping his gaze on he road ahead of them, Kotetsu decided to explain briefly about the NEXT from his world.]

It's kind of hard to explain what the NEXT are, but we are human just like you.

[He frowns.]

Except we have these mysterious powers...

Not quite.

[The first comment is quick, only muttered under his breath, before he takes up the train of what Kotetsu said.]

Then it is unusual, in your world?

[Kotetsu missed Golbez's quick comment, but he definitely heard the question that was asked later.]

Yeah, it sure is! One out of five people become a NEXT, meaning there's more humans around than us.

Yet, that doesn't stop people from fearing us.

Then what do the NEXT do, if they are so feared?

...We don't do anything normally besides just exist.

[He glances over at Golbez with a solemn gaze.]

As long as we exist, the people fear us. It's as simple that if you look at it that way.

But...

[Kotetsu frowns.]

There are NEXT who do abuse their powers and use them against the people, but they are rare.

People will always fear that which is strange to them.

The same is true of any power. [Speaking with experience, there.]

True, but one day I believe that will all change for the better!

[He smiles happily.]

Someday, the people will learn to accept us and won't fear our powers anymore. As long as we have "heroes" who fight for the greater good, we can accomplish this!

[Such unfailing optimism... he's reminded of a certain someone.]

I take it that you are one of those heroes.

[Nods enthusiastically.]

How did you know?! Is it my charm or my masculine handsome face? You know heroes like me are the cream of the crop!

[He's so ridiculously happy that Golbez recognized him as a hero, that he didn't notice the ghoulish pirates descending upon them now.]

You reminded e of someone who is also considered a hero.

[Golbez, however, isn't quite as distracted, so he notices soon, and raises a hand to cast once more.]

Blizzara.

[This time, the magic releases Ice, instead of lightning or fire.]

[Utterly stunned to see that Golbez can also control ice along with fire and lightning, Kotetsu drove into action once one of the skeleton-like pirates came his way.]

You guys just don't know when to QUIT!!

[Kotetsu yelled as he threw himself at the pirate. The ghoulish creature leaned in close to slice his cutlass at the hero, but Kotetsu was too fast for him. So instead of the creature slicing off Kotetsu's head or arm, it ended up flat on the ground after Kotetsu punched the damn thing in its' bony face.]

That is the nature of such creatures.

[Monsters everywhere stall travelers. It's the rule of adventuring.

For now, Golbez sticks to his elemental magics. As useful of a spell Bio is, it likely won't be very effective here. He sends a Fira at another one of the approaching creatures.]

No kidding!

[He yells after kicking an incoming ghoul right in the face.]

They just keep comin'!

[Right after he kicked the last monster away from him, another came charging at Kotetsu in hopes of impaling him with a rusty old spear.]

Whoa! [He nimbly dogged the strike, but just barely.]

That's it! We're outta here!

[Rushing over towards Golbez, he grabbed the fella by the arm.]

Trust me okay? This might be a little bumpy!

[If Goblez noticed earlier, Kotetsu had some sort of odd gauntlet device on his right arm. It was relatively small, so it's okay if Golbez didn't notice until now. Especially since this nifty device is going to be their key to survival here.]

LET'S GO!

[Aiming the strange device towards the Fort ahead, Kotetsu fired a single bright green line towards it. The line had a sharp metal rod on the end, one sharp enough to pierce the ancient bricks of the fort. Once it latched onto the wall, Kotetsu quickly pressed a button that made the two of them shoot up into the air.]

Hang on, Golbez!!!

[His focus is mostly on the enemies around them, so he is vaguely surprised when Kotetsu grabbed him- and even more so when they were suddenly shooting through the air because of the device. For the moment he simply focused on doing as instructed, instead of berating Kotetsu for the sudden action, or grumbling about the indignity of being snatched up suddenly like this.]

[Zooming through the air at top speeds wouldn't be so dizzying if Kotetsu was in his mech suit. However, being in just civilian clothing and doing crazy stunts like this wasn't a great idea. The two of them did manage to escape from the zombie pirate horde, but now the two of them had a different problem.

Just how was Kotetsu going to slow their ascending?]

Owowowowowowowow!!!

[Golbez is much heavier than he looks and Kotetsu could feel his grip slipping. So in a last ditch effort, Kotetsu swung the sorcerer towards the roof of the fort while still dangling in mid air.]

[If he'd had the chance, he would have told Kotetsu that this wasn't the best idea- he still had stronger spells to bring out, and they would still have to go back through the creatures to leave the town anyway- but there's little else he can do, even when Kotetsu starts shouting in pain. But although he's heavier than he looks, he's also somewhat stronger. With Kotetsu's help, he reaches the roof, but in return grabs hold of Kotetsu's arm, and reaches for the line, to pull him up as well.]

[Rule one about Kaburagi Kotetsu, ALL HIS IDEAS SUCK! Just ask Barnaby someday, Golbez.]

That...was too close!

[Feeling as if he nearly torn his arm out of its' socket with that hair-brain idea, Kotetsu was grateful for Golbez help. The sorcerer managed to pull him up to the roof of the fort with very little effort.]

T-Thanks...! Are you okay?

[If Barnaby ever shows up, they can commiserate over Kotetsu's horrible plans.

For the moment, though Kotetsu gets to see a very rare sight- Golbez removing the helmet. He pulls it off and sets it to the side with a sigh. Don't be too surprised by the white hair, Kotetsu.]

Yes.

Why did you do that?

[Kotetsu's eyes widened significantly once Golbez's helmet came off. He had no presumptions of what Golbez would look like without the armor and helmet, but when he first saw the long white hair Kotetsu's thoughts strayed to a certain blackjack gambler.]

...white hair?

[Staring at Golbez for a good minute or two, Kotetsu finally snapped out of his daze and answered the sorcerer's question.]

I didn't want you to get hurt! There were dozens of them but only two of us. What kind of "hero" would I be if I let you get hurt?

It is a family trait.

[No telling random strangers about Lunarian descent. This is why he doesn't take off the helmet often. This and other reasons.]

I have magic better aimed toward large groups. The situation was not yet so dire that we needed a desperate escape.
