[ Chloe sat at the desk he had commandeered from Ciel staring down at the paper he was writing on. His pen flew across the page until… No, that was terrible! With a huff he crumbled the page up and tossed it into the growing pile in the trash bin. Why was he having such trouble with a simple letter? He had written so many of these in the past, this should have been a simple task… But, that girl. Makoto.
Whether it was cupid’s doing or not he was having trouble getting her off his mind. She had been so bright, energetic, and she had such an air of innocence about her.
Could he have actual feelings for her? Much stronger than the usual frivolous crush he developed on a pretty lady?
Not that it mattered. Chloe returned to the task at hand writing out what he hoped would be a gentle enough letter. Some one like her deserved much better, but chasing her away was the only thing he could do. It would be too dangerous to involve her in his life. ]

Dearest Makoto,

I apologize for not sending word to you sooner. As unforgivable as my silence has been I can only offer an apology and tell you that circumstances have kept me away.
Doubtless we were both affected by the same force that caused so many others to behave in ways contrary to their nature. While it was fun I suggest we leave it as it is, a lovely little diversion caused by the magic in the spring air.
I have no doubt that a lady with such appealing qualities will find the person you are truly meant to be with. I look forward to that day but hope you will at least be able to look fondly back on our short time together, as I know I will.
