[The camera turns on to show a man in his early twenties with long, blond hair, glasses, and a concerned expression. He stares intently at the screen for a moment to be sure that the camera is on before he starts speaking in a deep, soft voice.]

Ritsuka, are you here? Are you injured? Call to me and I'll find you.

[Soubi's face shows a bit of surprise when he sees Yuiko on the other end of the feed. But he schools his face into a smile quickly: Yuiko is a sweet kid; he won't make her feel sad.]

[He looks at her through the camera carefully. Yuiko does not have the look of someone who was recently engulfed in mysterious darkness and thrown into a strange place. In fact, all things considered, she looks fairly comfortable. As do all of the other people here. He takes a guess.]

How long have you and Ritsuka been here?

No, it does not. He's a person. He is short with dark hair and purple eyes. He is about your age, and he still has his ears. Have you seen him?

[Small boy. Dark hair. Purple eyes. Her age. He must mean her human age since even she didn't know her actual age. ...Still had his ears? The description almost fit two boys she knew, tho really she hadn't looked at them long enough to know what color their eyes were nor did she know any earless people. What a strange thing to say. Maybe it was another one of those odd human terms she didn't know.]

Uuh... I don't know what you mean by "still has his ears" all the boys I know have ears. I know one named Oz but he doesn't sound like your person and he's mine anyway! I know another boy who has dark hair and is short. He has both his ears to but is missing an eye. Um, and I know another one that actually has too many ears, dark hair and a tail.

[What's this about too many ears? He tries to picture a boy with too many ears, and can only come up with a boy who has cat ears on top of his cat ears. But this girl also doesn't understand what it means to still have ears, and she seems surprised by the idea of a tail... could she perhaps have been raised in a place of such widespread abuse that she doesn't understand childhood? He shudders inwardly.

But that is hardly important. The blond boy is obviously not it, nor is the one with too many ears. But the other boy has dark hair and ears. That could be it... only. Only Ritsuka is not missing an eye. Could he have lost an eye in the confusion after the darkness spread? His face pales.]

[Oh! She knew that answer! She understood all those words! She's walking around the room now, picking up random objects and sniffing them.]

They live at school with me, Oz, Too many ears, Cute girl and Candy hair. She has too many ears to.

Eye patch doesn't live here though. He only comes around to see cute girl.

[Sitting on the steps just outside the moogle shop is Soubi's target, Ritsuka. It was after school and as always, when the teen wasn't doing homework or tutoring Yuiko, he was at work. It had been a pretty slow day so a small break couldn't hurt.]

Minc! Minccino~ [His strange new pet cooed by his feet and holds up a pebble it found.]

Hm? Ah, thanks, Soubi... but you don't have to pick up every piece of rubbish you find. [The untamed creature didn't listen of course and continued to sweep around on the steps that Ritsuka was sitting on.]

...You're just as dumb as the real Soubi sometimes. [That... was a very big comfort. Ritsuka continues to contently watch the small animal.]

[Soubi hears the voice, not far off... a voice almost more familiar than his own. The voice he'd been starting to become really worried he'd never hear again. Instantly the communicator is in his pocket and he's off at a run, following the sound of the voice. In moments he's there, not stopping until he's scooped Ritsuka up in his arms like a tornado of large, worried Fighter.]

Ritsuka, there you are...

[He ignores the creature that has skittered away from his oncoming feet.]

[The pokemon was the first to react, sensing the man's approach, it stops cleaning and starts to bounce nervously by Ritsuka's feet to try and warm him.]

...Soubi? What's wrong? Is it a Heartless? [Ritsuka stands up so they could leave and looks around anxiously.]

[That's when his eyes fall onto the familiar blond blur sprinting towards him. The sacrifice stands frozen even as the man lifts him off the ground.

Was he dreaming? His breath is caught in his throat and no sound can come out, but he manages to pull his head back far enough to get a look at who was holding him.

Blond hair, the familiar scent of musk and cigarettes. His lungs finally started to work again.]

S-Soubi? [The boy says weakly, and cups Soubi's face in his hands.]

Is it really you? Y-you're here and you're alive! [It had been almost two months since he'd last seen his fighter and he was starting to think he'd never see the man again.]

[The warmest sensation he has ever felt blooms in his heart and strengthens his limbs. He hugs Ritsuka as if he plans never to let go, as if he hopes to fuse himself together with his young master. The heart-pounding fear of the last hour flees away, leaving him in blissful, weightless freefall. Nothing seems to matter anymore as he presses Ritsuka's warm, living body to his own for what feels like hours.

But finally he realizes (dully) that he needs to take stock. He pulls Ritsuka off of himself and holds him out several inches, studying his face.

Hang on...]

Ritsuka, you had a cut above your eye yesterday. How did it heal so quickly?

[Ritsuka lets Soubi hold him for as long as he likes, for once he didn't have any complaints about the public display of affection. He missed him far too much to care, but surprisingly Soubi was the one to first break contact.]

My eye?

[He brings his and up to his brow and tries to remember what Soubi is talking about.]

I... came here with a cut, but it's long healed by now... Soubi? What's the last thing you remember?
