Does anyone have any tales from their own worlds that are inspiring? Whether they are ancient legends or personal experiences? I know of a few tales from my world...
Some 800 years ago, a great battle took place in Magvel, between the Great Dragon and the Demon King. With the Great Dragon's power, the five heroes defeated the Demon King, sealing his soul away within the five Sacred Stones. The stones were then divided among the nations, built upon the heroes' legacy, though the Great Dragon's existence was gradually forgotten.
However, the people of my village, Caer Pelyn, carried on the memory and the honor of the Great Dragon. From the day of my birth, my life has been in service to him. And then, just recently, I received the most important assignment of my life.
The Great Dragon sensed an evil energy flowing from the south, from the direction of the Grado nation. His daughter, Lady Myrrh, left their home to investigate it. Caer Pelyn entrusted me with the honor of escorting her in her quest. Along the way, we joined forces with Prince Ephraim and Princess Eirika of Renais. We learned that the Demon King was beginning to resurface, when the young prince of Grado attempted to revive his deceased father with dark magic. This somehow provided an opportunity for the Demon King to escape from his prison, using the prince's body as a vessel until he could reclaim his own body. Using Grado's army, he set out to destroy the Sacred Stones, and succeeded in destroying all but one.
Our journey led us to the gates of the Black Temple, where we confronted the Demon King. Using the final Sacred Stone, we were able to seal his soul once more, and then defeated his soulless body. In all my life, I had never imagined that I would lay my own eyes on the Demon King. It was truly a re-enactment of the ancient legend. We destroyed the Demon King's body this time, so he can never return again.
It is a tale like this that proves the strength of the human spirit. Even though the Demon King was far more powerful, we were still able to win with our own abilities. This tale would also serve as a reminder that darkness cannot be trusted, even if one attempted to use it with good intentions. Grado's prince was a man who loathed violence and wanted nothing more than the safety and happiness of his people. To think that the darkness had turned him into something else entirely is...unbelievable.
